Marshall (Pasadena) is slated to be in the Crest League of the Conference and the school just announced this week that they are dropping the football program for this season.

That means Glendale, Temple City, Hoover and Arcadia need to set up games for the week vacated by Marshall’s departure. Coaches: If you still need a game to fill out your schedule please contact Glendale head coach Manny Lemus or Temple City head coach Riley Saxon. They both have Week 6 and Week 7 available. Eric Elias, Arcadia head coach, needs to add a team as well. Please reach out to him for available weeks. Hoover will be in the same boat.

Blair is also set for the Crest League as well but word is that the Vikings will not be playing 11-man football this year either. They have been competing in 8-man football for the last few years.

The Crest League, which was originally six teams would now feature Temple City, Arcadia, Glendale and Hoover. Could be tough setting up playoff qualifiers with only three league games for each team. The original plan had three teams qualifying for the playoffs.

**

While we will keep you posted on all of the league realignments as we work our way towards Zero Week, here is the new look for three other leagues.

Gateway League:
Downey
La Serna
Mayfair
Warren
La Mirada
Cerritos

Mid-Cities League
Norwalk
Paramount
California
Gahr
Santa Fe
Bellflower

605 League
Lynwood
Artesia
Whittier
Pioneer
Firebaugh
John Glenn

That Gateway League is a death march.

**

Hearing a lot of noise about Baldwin Park quarterback Lequand “Jack Jack” Jackson. The SGV football community is shocked that he would transfer from Upland to Baldwin Park. Upland, despite a rough year last year, has historically played in a higher division than Baldwin Park. Screams of “Why?’ and “How?” and “What?” have been filling up our comments section. To clear things up Jackson and his family moved to West Covina, which is right on the border of Baldwin Park. This makes the transfer legitimate due to an address change -a transfer necessary due to a move.

Don’t shoot the messenger. This is what was reported to me. Whether you love the move or hate it you have to admit one thing. This kid can play.

Bonita was impressive Saturday at the Baldwin Park 3rd and Long Tournament. With quarterback Isaiah Guerrero and skill guys Joseph Lara and Omari Sullivan the Bearcats ae going to be tough to beat. Bonita beat Paraclete to win the Tournament and also knocked off Sierra Canyon along the way. Sullivan, who is lightning quick, had a day Saturday outrunning defenders.

Speaking of Paraclete it was good to see former St. Francis quarterback Shaun Sanders slinging it for the Spirits. Sanders was projected to have a big year last season for the Golden Knights before suffering an injury that ended his season.

It’s hard to compete when several of your players are still playing baseball. Several key La Canada players are still on the diamond including quarterback Joe Bell and receiver Brandon Mohaghegh. The Spartans will be fine once the helmet and pads come on.

I’ll miss seeing Cooper Berry in Maranatha gear this year but Cathedral fans are going to love this kid. He has all the tools and is poised to have a monster season.

I always thought it was cool seeing schools wear their mottos on their gear at passing tournaments. “Men of Faith” was prominently displayed on the backs of Paraclete players Saturday.

Next on the football agenda: Charter Oak Big Lou Memorial 7 on 7 Tournament is set for Saturday May 16.

**

Baseball Note: Arcadia’s Nick Lemus won his 400th career game Friday night in a 10-0 victory over Crescenta Valley. With 20 years and 400 wins the L in Lemus also stands for legendary.

That’s my principle.

Tim Peterson can be reached at tim.midvalleysports@gmail.com or on Twitter (X) @tspeterson40.
