I want to be excited about USC\u2026someone give me a reason to be excited\u2026<\/p>\n
Locally, I will never get into the Smudge Pot (San Dimas-Bonita) being played in early September.<\/p>\n
It would be great to see the Patriots win tonight, but if I had money on it, I’d take the Seahawks.<\/p>\n
Maybe it’s because the Mets are out of it, but doesn’t baseball feel so boring when the NFL season starts? I’ll be back in October.<\/p>\n
Even though they didn’t look good, and the way they were given the victory last Saturday was seriously bad, I’m still a Hail Michigan guy.<\/p>\n
I like the fight song, I like the helmet, love the unis, and hate Ohio State\u2014So hail to the victors.<\/p>\n
I don’t know how they’ll fare against Oklahoma this Saturday, but the Sooners’ biggest advantage might be Bryce Underwood.<\/p>\n
Still, the Wolverines will be in the Big House with that crowd and an extra second to play with.<\/p>\n

With Fog City losing DT Alfred Collins for the season\u2014in a practice on Tuesday (“We’re talking practice, man.”)\u2014Kyle Shanahan would be wise to think the same way.<\/p>\n
Collins was drafted in the second round (43rd overall) last year out of Texas. He started one game, and he’s okay\u2026what hurts most is that he’s less than a month away from turning 25.<\/p>\n
The old guys are expected to get hurt, not the young guys. The 49ers are hurting.<\/p>\n
And with years and years of stacking multiple injuries, they need to rethink how they do business.<\/p>\n
Baker Mayfield got his extension\u2026good for him and better for the Bucs.<\/p>\n
What sports give us\u2026is an opportunity to witness gratitude.<\/p>\n
Not the kneel or point to heaven after a big play\u2026but the acknowledgment by the coach, athlete, sports reporter\/analyst\/talking head\u2026expressing gratitude for the mere opportunity to be part of sports for a living.<\/p>\n
In the old days, when you’d actually have to go to the bank to deposit your check\u2026and stand in line. Bored, I remember looking at my deposit slip and check. Seeing the note in the memo line\u2026 For: “Writing” or “Sports Writing”\u2026<\/p>\n
Frick! I’d think to myself, I really get paid to write and speak about sports! How blessed am\/was I?<\/p>\n
Interested in MLB or not\u2026#105\u2014May the San Francisco Giants rot and lie stinking in the earth\u2026<\/p>\n
I will watch the WNBA when it returns\u2014college kids should have been sent to FIBA\u2014pausing their season so late in the season is another example of a welfare league knowing it doesn’t have to make money\u2026.Because someone is always going to take care of them\u2026<\/p>\n
