{"id":98549,"date":"2026-09-10T22:50:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-11T05:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=98549"},"modified":"2026-09-11T11:29:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-11T18:29:29","slug":"burbank-22-golden-valley-15-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=98549","title":{"rendered":"Burbank Stays Close and Wins, 22-15"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Rich Whittington <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(Burbank) &#8211; The Burbank Bulldogs came from behind to defeat the visiting Golden Valley Grizzlies, 22-15, Thursday evening at Burbank\u2019s Kemp-Kallem Field.<\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>After a scoreless first quarter, Golden Valley got on the board when quarterback Jaxon Ray scored on a one-yard touchdown blast. The extra point was added by Rudi Perez-Godina, making the score 7-0 with 11:22 remaining in the opening half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bulldogs countered, when running back Troy Wells broke loose for an 11-yard score. The kick was converted by Andranik Brutayan, making the score 7-7 at halftime.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Grizzlies took the lead in the third period, when running back Cornell Glass scored on a two-yard pop. The two-point conversion was added by Aaron McCormick, making the score 15-7 as the third period came to an end.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Burbank tied the contest early in the fourth quarter, when quarterback Damian Corona connected with tight end Kaylem Valencia for a 20-yard touchdown. Corona added the two-point conversion tying the score at 15 with 11:54 remaining in the contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bulldogs cashed in the winning score a few minutes later, when Wells scored his second touchdown of the evening on a three-yard rush. A second Brutayan PAT made the score 22-15 with 6:19 remaining in the contest.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wells finished the evening with 169 yards on 27 carries, with two scores.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bulldogs will attempt to make it two in a row next Friday, when they host the Birmingham Patriots.
