(Pomona) – Diamond Ranch was ran over by Arroyo Valley\u2019s Cayden Davis, who showed up and showed out against the Panthers Friday night in a 62-27 victory at Diamond Ranch. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
<\/p>\n\n\n
Tyler Hunter started it off early for the visiting Hawks on the first drive breaking off a 33-yard touchdown making it 8-0 after he also took in the two-point conversion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Panthers answered scoring their first touchdown of the season when quarterback Marco Ochoa found a wide-open Drew Kerr for a 39-yard trip to the end zone. The two-point conversion failed and it was 8-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arroyo Valley drove down the field again and it was finished off again by Hunter – this time on a one-yard dive into the end zone. A two-point conversion made it 16-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hawks forced a punt and got back to work on the ground early in the second half when Davis hit the back door and found paydirt with a 34-yard score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Diamond Ranch kept fighting as sophomore Lucas Gutierrez ran in a two-yard score making it 24-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Davis got loose on the first play from scrimmage. This time a 51-yarder made it 32-13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Diamond Ranch answered back as Gutierrez scored on a five-yard scamper to the end zone making it 32-20 at the half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Panthers cut the lead to five on their first drive of the second half. Ochoa found Kerr again – this time for 55 yards making it a one score game at 32-27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But that\u2019s the closest Diamond Ranch got. The Panthers turned the ball over on downs the next three possessions. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Davis scored on runs of 12, 19, 62 and 68 in the second half to secure the victory for the Hawks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hunter finished with nine carries for 122 yards and two scores. Davis had eight carries for 269 yards and six touchdowns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a team Arroyo Valley, who is led by coach Jesse Ceniceros and his powerful double wing offense, ran for 479 yards on just 27 rushes. The Hawks also converted seven of eight two-point conversions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Panthers will look for their first victory next week against Jurupa Hills (2-2) while Arroyo Valley (2-2) will stay home and host Pacific (4-0).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
