3. The Atlanta Falcons beat the Green Bay Packers 35-14 on Thursday Night Football.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. The Chicago White Sox clinched an AL playoff berth with a 9-1 win over the Kansas City Royals Thursday. The White Sox became the first team in major league history to make the playoffs following consecutive 100-loss seasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. The Chicago Cubs clinched a playoff berth Thursday with a 2-1 win over the Miami Marlins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Nevada head basketball coach Steve Alford said he is retiring at the end of the 2026 -’27 season. Alford, who is entering his eighth season at Nevada, has had a 36-year coaching career that also included stops at Iowa, New Mexico and UCLA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk was fined $14,926 Thursday for “engaging in offensive demonstrations.” According to the league Juszczyk violated a rule when he “did an imitation of chugging a beer” in the third quarter of the 49ers win over the Miami Dolphins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold is hoping to return to the lineup Sunday against the Washington Commanders after missing most of the first two games with a glute injury. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Bob Pettit, who won the NBA’s first MVP award in 1956, passed away Wednesday at the age of 93. Pettit was an All-American at LSU before going on to the NBA where he led the St. Louis Hawks to the championship in 1958. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
