Sierra Vista (4-0) at Azusa (4-0) \u2013 Citrus College<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Azusa 34-13<\/strong><\/p>\n

La Puente was supposed to be the team that competes with Azusa. That didn\u2019t happen. This week it\u2019s undefeated Sierra Vista. A quick scan of the Dons\u2019 four opponents tells you they have a combined record of 3-13.<\/p>\n

Azusa has too much \u2013 at least for this league anyway. Jose Nunez, Abraham Ochoa and company roll again.<\/p>\n

Baldwin Park (1-4) at San Dimas (3-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: San Dimas 35-16<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Braves got off the floor last week with a win over Pomona in the Valle Vista opener. San Dimas dispatched Nogales.<\/p>\n

The Braves played a brutal non league schedule in preparation for league. It paid off in the rout of Pomona team. BP still looks like the second best team in the league. However San Dimas appears to be the best.<\/p>\n

The Saints have picked it up after losing in the Smudge Pot. Two weeks ago the Saints pulled out a miracle against Monrovia. BP competes but San Dimas gets the win.<\/p>\n

Wilson (3-1) at Covina (4-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Covina 21-17<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Colts almost got caught napping in a three point win over Northview. Covina will need to be awake against a solid Wilson team.<\/p>\n

The Wildcats lost the opener but have won three straight since including last week\u2019s win over El Monte. Wilson is using a two quarterback system with Josh Morales and Brandon Schreiman and it\u2019s working so far. Both players can do different things.<\/p>\n

This one could go down to the wire. The Covina defense makes a big play in the fourth quarter and Billy Livingston and Gevontray Ainsworth take full advantage.<\/p>\n

Bell Gardens (2-2) at South El Monte (1-3)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Okay maybe Bell Gardens is pretty good. The Lancers have been all over the map. They were crushed in the opener by Azusa only to rebound with a win over El Rancho. They lost but competed against Cantwell and then beat San Marino handily last week.<\/p>\n

South has a ways to go. Last week the offense struggled in a loss to Temple City. The Southmen need to get something going early.<\/p>\n

BG establishes the running game and wins going away.<\/p>\n

Bell Gardens 28 South El Monte 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

La Canada (2-2) at Arroyo (3-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Arroyo 31-27<\/strong><\/p>\n

All-Time: Tied 1-1<\/strong><\/p>\n

La Canada\u2019s big loss to Maranatha was somewhat of a surprise. I didn\u2019t think the Spartans defense would give up that many points. Offensively they\u2019re fine.<\/p>\n

Arroyo used the bye week to get healthy. The Knights were routed two weeks ago against Hart but with Hart that tends to happen.<\/p>\n

The jury is still out on Rivera. If he plays, Arroyo should have enough. If not LC could pull the upset. The status on Rivera might not be known until mid week.<\/p>\n

Paramount (3-1) at Monrovia (2-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the last leg of the death march for Monrovia. Rio Hondo action begins next week. The Cats have held up pretty well. After that stinging loss to San Dimas, M-Town responded to the challenge last week holding off South Hills. In case you haven\u2019t heard Ellis McCarthy is a monster.<\/p>\n

As for Paramount \u2013 well the Pirates hail from the San Gabriel Valley League. They have won three of four but struggled to beat Bellflower and Whittier.<\/p>\n

Wildcats should take care of business here.<\/p>\n

Rosemead (2-2) at Temple City (1-3)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last Year: Temple City 27-13<\/strong><\/p>\n

All-Time: Temple City 12-5<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Panthers coughed up the ball three times and they all led to scoop and scores in the lopsided loss to San Gabriel. That won\u2019t happen again. Oh and for the record Matt Fregoso did not fumble.<\/p>\n

Temple City got in the win column last week. Josh Simangunsong, Carlos Mota and Mike Quintanilla all played well. However Rosemead\u2019s defense won\u2019t let them run free like they did last week.<\/p>\n

This will be one angry group of Panthers.<\/p>\n

Schurr (2-2) at St. Paul (3-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Schurr, like Monrovia, has played a schedule comparable to Ohio State\u2019s. St. Paul is 3-1 including victories over La Mirada and Ayala.<\/p>\n

The Spartans took some licks last week against Cal but continued to tick. That touchdown pass from Aaron Cantu to Chris Chiaromonte was an ESPN highlight.<\/p>\n

Schurr will have to play error free football.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s going to be a war. Schurr gives them a scare but the Swordsmen prevail. No sweat, the Spartans will be ready for league.<\/p>\n

Western Christian (1-3) at Maranatha (4-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Common Opponents: Big Bear 27 Maranatha 17, Big Bear 42 Western Christian 28<\/p>\n

The Minutemen are on a roll. They\u2019ve won four straight since the zero week loss at Big Bear including last week\u2019s huge win over La Canada. The offense seems to have found its groove.<\/p>\n

Western Christian has lost three straight including a 34 point rout last week by Rubidoux.<\/p>\n

Maranatha gears up for the Olympic with its fourth straight win.<\/p>\n

Whittier Christian (5-0) at Cantwell-Sacred Heart (4-0)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Heralds found them selves in a battle last week with a tough physical Salesian team. It\u2019s to their credit they gutted out a win. But they will have to step up to beat a solid team in Cantwell.<\/p>\n

The undefeated Cardinals are averaging over 47 points per game but their defense has been giving them up as well. Whittier Christian will bring some defensive looks that Cantwell isn\u2019t used to.<\/p>\n
