{"id":10730,"date":"2010-10-09T06:01:26","date_gmt":"2010-10-09T13:01:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=10730"},"modified":"2010-10-09T08:39:48","modified_gmt":"2010-10-09T15:39:48","slug":"covina-36-wilson-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=10730","title":{"rendered":"Livingston Lights it up for Colts"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_10772\" style=\"width: 370px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10772\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-10772 \" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/COV-WILS-10-8-10-005-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10772\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Billy Livingston led the Colts to victory with three touchdown passes <\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Tim Peterson<\/p>\n<p>(Covina) &#8211;\u00a0Billy Livingston didn&#8217;t\u00a0play in the first quarter and he didn&#8217;t play for half of the\u00a0fourth quarter.\u00a0But two and a half quarters was all he needed to\u00a0carve up the Wilson defense in a 36-16 rout of the Wildcats in Valle Vista League action Friday night.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->He threw for 261 yards and\u00a0three touchdowns as he had his way with the Wilson secondary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Livingston sat out the first\u00a0quarter in favor of Daniel\u00a0Sifuentes who had taken all the snaps this week in practice. Livingston was injured in last week&#8217;s victory\u00a0over Northview in the second quarter and didn&#8217; t play the rest of the game.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sifuentes had taken all the snaps\u00a0and we wanted to see how he looked,&#8221;\u00a0said Covina Coach Darryl Thomas. &#8220;Billy\u00a0was like a &#8216;break glass if emergency&#8217; situation. We&#8217;ll in the second quarter we broke that glass.\u00a0He&#8217;s our leader anad our starter so we wanted to get him in there.\u00a0He&#8217;s been playing well for us all year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On his\u00a0first play from scrimmage\u00a0Livingston hit Remontay\u00a0McCain\u00a0for a 69 yard touchdown pass and the Colts were off and running with a 7-3 lead.\u00a0Wilson scored first\u00a0on a Hector Dominguez 22 yard field goal but\u00a0the Wildcats didn&#8217;t score again until the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>After a bad snap by\u00a0Wilson gave the Colts a safety for a 9-3 lead, Livingston struck again. This time he hit\u00a0Vinny Venegas for 20 yard touchdown strike to cap a four play, 29 yard\u00a0drive after a short Wildcat punt.<\/p>\n<p>On the next series, Covina marched 53 yards on seven plays to go up\u00a023-3. Venegas finished the drive with a three yeard run.\u00a0Livingston hit Venegas\u00a0for 24 yards down to the Wilson four to set up the score as the teams headed to the halftime break.<\/p>\n<p>In the second half it was more of the same as Covina scored on its first two possessions. Livingston fired his third touchdown pass of\u00a0the night &#8211;\u00a0a 21 yarder to Randy Robledo. Venegas got number three (two on the ground and one receiving)\u00a0on the next series when he capped an 80-yard drive with a six yard run.<\/p>\n<p>Wilson scored twice in the fourth qaurter\u00a0but the horse (or in this case the colt)\u00a0was already down the road. Moses Vega scooted in for a 13 yard TD run and\u00a0Brandon Schrieman found Josh Nelson\u00a0on a\u00a016 yard touchdown pass.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Livingston is a good quarterback.\u00a0He throws the ball well and makes good reads and all that\u00a0but we have to overcome that. We\u00a0need to have better coverage. We can&#8217;t pick and choose\u00a0when we want to play hard,&#8221; said Wilson Coach Brian Zavala. &#8220;We didn&#8217;t want to start league play like this.\u00a0We have a home game against Northview next week and we&#8217;ll have to come out and play better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Livingston hit five different receivers on the night.\u00a0Peter De la cruz\u00a0caught six passes for 90 yards.\u00a0McClain hauled in two for 85 yards and a score\u00a0and Venegas had\u00a0two for 44 and the touchdown.\u00a0Gevontray Ainsworth had four receptions for 39 yards. He also carried the ball 11 times for 65 yards.<\/p>\n<p>Schrieman split time with Josh Morales in Wilson&#8217;s two quarterback system.\u00a0He\u00a0completed\u00a0 16 of\u00a026 for 247 yards and\u00a0a touchdown. He also threw an interception.\u00a0 Nelson was the favorite target with seven catches for 145 yards and a score.<\/p>\n<p>Morales\u00a0ran for 24 yards and completed a pass for 19 more.<\/p>\n<p>Covina improved to\u00a05-1 overall and 2-0 in league. Wilson drops to 0-1 in the Valle Vista\u00a0and 3-2 overall.
