Against View Friday night he fired five.

(El Monte) – Steven Rivera’s five touchdown passes leads Arroyo to a hard fought 42-24 win over Mountain View Friday night at B.L. Bergstrom Stadium.

Game started slow for the Knights. Rivera fumbled the snap on the first play and the Vikings recovered. View couldn’t get anything on the ground and settled for a Jesus “Chuy” Ordaz field goal from 35-yard to take a 3-0 lead.

After both teams exchanged punts the Knights, drove the ball and with 55-seconds left in the first quarter Rivera found a wide open Anthony Miller for a 8-yard touchdown pass to give Arroyo a 7-3 lead.

The Knights got on the board again early in the second quarter when Rivera hit David Guerrero for a 60-yard touchdown catch. Just before the end of the half Rivera hit Miller again to take a 21-3 lead into the half.

After stopping View on its first possession of the second half, Rivera found Miller for the third time with a 45-yard touchdown pass to open up the game at 28-3.

The Vikings offense on their next possession pounded the ball down field and capped it off with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jerry Ponce to cut the lead to 28-10.

Rivera would lead the Knights down the field again and Mikey Vazquez finished it off with a 4-yard touchdown run to make it 35-10.

View didn’t give up and Ponce found a wide open Jossymar Ulloa for a 15-yard catch and run to paydirt, Jose “Nacho” Zamora pounded in the two point conversion to make it 35-18.

Arroyo didn’t let up Rivera kept the ball in the air and found Miller for the fourth time and put up the Knights 42-18.

Vikings kept on pounding the ball and Ulloa broke a 60-yard touchdown run to make the game 42-24 after a two point conversion was no good.

Rivera finished with 295-yards passing and 5-touchdown passes, Miller had 10 catches for 190-yards and four scores. On defense Alexis Aceves and Fernando Ochoa each had a interception.

Ulloa had 175-yards rushing, and 40-yards receiving and two scores. Paul Herrera and Keivon Flores each had a fumble recovery for the Vikings.

Knights (9-1) wait and see who they play in the first round of the Mid Valley playoffs, and View (5-5) caps off a solid season after going 0-10 last year.

[3

post-12500","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-high-school-sports
["GET
