[El Monte]\u00a0– The Vikings\u00a0kept their hot start going with a 42-34 win over Pioneer Wednesday night at Mountain View High School.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The teams started off with a 7-7 tie after one quarter of play. The Vikings found some scoring in the second quarter with two 3-pointers by Jonathan Benitez.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With a 21-13 lead going in to halftime Mountain View came out slow in the second half and Pioneer was able to tie 23-23 with a Josh Fitten 3-pointer, but View took the lead back with seven straight points led by Erick Martinez and Jeremy Acosta.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Vikings never gave up the lead after that with good ball control by Joseph Angelo and rebounding by Martinez.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Pioneer’s Hector Rios kept them close the whole game finishing with 15 points and 5 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Martinez finished with 12 points for the Vikings while Angelo chipped in with 8 points of his own.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mountain View improved to 12-3 and plays their last pre season game Friday at home against San Gabriel, while the Titans fall to 7-10 and start league play against Santa Fe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
