Versatile Arthur Brown, after flirting with other options, inked with Dakota Wesleyan on Friday afternoon in front of family and friends.<\/p>\n

(San Gabriel)- \u201cFinancially it works for me and there\u2019s the connection with my uncle,\u201d said Arthur Brown as he put his name on the dotted line to play football for the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers this coming fall.<\/p>\n

Brown, who shared the Co-Most Valuable Offensive Player in the Almont in 2010, culminated a four year varsity career by rushing for 1,121 yards and 16 touchdowns. He caught 16 passes for another touchdown and playing quarterback out of the \u201cWild Chollo\u201d Brown completed 16 of 28 passes for 269 yards and 3 touchowns.<\/p>\n

At DWU, which is located in South Dakota, he will see time at running back and slot receiver.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo concerns at all,\u201d says Brown about living in a different climate and being so far from home. \u201cI was there last week and it snowed so I\u2019ve seen it and my uncle will be there to help me out. It will be easy for me to adjust.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown\u2019s uncle, Zeke Prado, played football for San Gabriel and DWU. After spending time serving time as an assistant coach locally (East Los Angeles College & Temple City) Prado returned to South Dakota last spring to assist with the football and track programs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work ethic I\u2019ve learned here at San Gabriel has prepared me for this,\u201d says Brown. \u201cPlus they run a system similar to ours on offense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud of him,\u201d said longtime Rosemead Rebel fixture Paul Barraza on hand for the signing. \u201cI started with Arthur when he was seven years old.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe makes us all proud,\u201d said San Gabriel Head Coach Jude Oliva. \u201cHe\u2019s an example of what we try to promote here. Getting it done on the field is second around here being a good student and a person of character comes first. That\u2019s Arthur.<\/p>\n

Brown, who will major in athletic training, leaves for the Tigers football camp in early July.<\/p>\n

Knowing that he\u2019ll be a thousand miles from Armando\u2019s when hunger pains set in, Brown is an advocate of the buffalo burger.<\/p>\n
