{"id":18646,"date":"2011-09-30T23:09:34","date_gmt":"2011-10-01T06:09:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=18646"},"modified":"2011-10-01T08:22:34","modified_gmt":"2011-10-01T15:22:34","slug":"burbank-49-pasadena-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=18646","title":{"rendered":"Burroughs Beats P-Dawgs with The Zander"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Rick Fruchey<\/p>\n<p>(Pasadena)- Only Burroughs running back Zander Anding can post numbers compiled over four quarters and make them look like numbers posted over four games.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The senior runnng back accounted for 461 all purpose yards and four touchdowns in the Indians 49-34 victory at Pasadena on Friday night in the Pacific League opener for both schools.<\/p>\n<p>Anding rushed the ball 26 times for 354 yards, added 14 yards through the air, and it was his 93-yard kick-off return to the house after PHS took a quick lead, that put Burroughs on track for the rest of the night.<\/p>\n<p>That early Bulldog lead came courtesy of the talents of quarterback Brandon Cox, who would have an amazing night in the losing cause.<\/p>\n<p>The cloudy night in the Rose City began with Cox going 41-yards to Keith Law for 7-0 lead in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage lasted for a heartbeat as Anding took the following kick-off 93-yards to paydirt and a tie score and turn the first quarter into an Indians showcase. Anding would score again on a 14-yard run and Israel Montes bulled his way in from a yard out to make it 21-7.<\/p>\n<p>Cox brought Pasadena wthin striking distance with a 1-yard run of his own in the second quarter, but the PAT was blocked and Burroughs led 21-13.<\/p>\n<p>With 2:35 to play before the half the Flatlanders went on an 80-yard march and with eight ticks left on the clock Eli Peppmuller hit Jose Pereyra with an 11-yard scoring toss. What made the play standout was the ball was knocked out of Pereya\u2019s hands but he dove in spectacular fashion to secure it for a score and a 28-13 Indian lead at the break.<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs took possession second half kick-off at its own 33 and less than a minute later covered 77 yards as Anding added a 13-yard run to make it 35-13.<\/p>\n<p>With 6:22 left in the third Cox answered again for the Bulldogs by going 35-yards to Riian Simpson and it was a 35-20 game.<\/p>\n<p>Burroughs came right\u00a0back, starting at its own 19, covering 81 yards and Anding scored his fourth touchdown of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Cox came right back for Pasadena. The southpaw led his team on a 66 yard drive on eight plays before hitting paydirt on a 22-yard pass to Simpson. The PAT went wide right and it was 42-26 in favor of the visitors.<\/p>\n<p>With the game winding down Burroughs twos added another touchdown to make it 49-26, but still Cox slung his team back into the endzone.<\/p>\n<p>With three minutes left in the fourth Cox drove his team 63 yards and scored on a 23-yard run.
