The PAT kick was blocked and the Huskies trailed 14-13 with 3:51 left in the half.

Moments before halftime Canada lined up under center, took a snap, and dashed eight yards to close out another Huskie advance to reclaim the lead 20-14.

Two plays into the second half the all-purpose Mason Bryant picked off South Hills quarterback Danny Sheehan’s pass. That led to an M-Town field goal from 34-yards by Bryant.

SH went three and out on its next drive to turn it back to Monrovia, who swiftly scored three plays later as Anthony Craft hauled in a 49-yard pass from Heyworth for what would be the Cats’ last lead, 24-20, with 4:42 in the third.

The Huskies chewed up the rest of the third via the ground route and held the ball into the fourth where Hart burst for his second touchdown from 10-yards out.

After M-Town was stopped on its next possession, South Hills took over at its own 43 and Hart went to work. The veteran reeled of runs of 5 and 34 yards before scoring his third touchdown on a four yard burst.

Carlos Delgado surfaced with a key interception against Frazier for South Hills to terminate the following Monrovia possession.

The Cats later blocked a Huskie punt and marched 10 plays to the South Hills’ seven, but Heyworth’s pass on fourth and two barely missed to turn the ball over on downs.

South Hills ended up punting with 14.4 seconds to play as Monrovia used its timeouts to get the ball back, but by then time was short, and the ten point margin too much. Still, Heyworth closed it out in fashion for Monrovia with his third touchdown strike going 45-yards to Luke Williams as time expired to end the scoring.

Heyworth went 15-26 for 266 yards and three scores to lead M-Town in the air. Frazier was 3-8 for 57 with one interception, also rushing 9 times for another 43 with 1 TD. Three different Wildcat receivers had a TD apiece. (Craft 4-92, Williams 4-87, Ramirez 4-83). Bryant was the fourth target catching 4 passes for 44 yards. Marquise Bias was the ‘Cats primary running back and got 38 on 10 carries.

Despite the loss, Monrovia topped South Hills in total offense 407 to 310.

South Hills: 7, 13, 0, 14 — 34
Monrovia: 7, 7, 10, 6 — 30
1st
SH 1:12 – Jamel Hart 1yd run, Danny Sheehan PAT
M 0:14.0 – Blake Heyworth 54yd pass to DeShawn Ramirez, Mason Bryant PAT
2nd
M 4:07 – George “G-5” Frazier 2yd run, Bryant PAT
SH 3:51 – Jamie Canada 100yd kick return, PAT failed (blocked)
SH 0:31.1 – Canada 8yd run, Sheehan PAT
3rd
M 7:32 – Bryant 34yd field goal
M 4:42 – Heyworth 49yd pass to Anthony Craft, Bryant PAT
4th
SH 11:54 – Hart 10yd run, Sheehan PAT
SH 9:09 – Hart 4yd run, Sheehan PAT
M 0:00 – Heyworth 45yd pass to Luke Williams — end of game.

By Cory Kwok (Monrovia) – Jamie Canada returned a 100 yard kick return for a touchdown and scored again later from 8- yards out while Jamel Hart rushed 31 times for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns, to help power South Hills to a 34-30 win at Monrovia.

[3

post-18691","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-high-school-sports
["GET
