(Glendale) \u2013 The ejection of three-key offensive players and a slow start didn\u2019t deter Burbank from blowing-out Hoover 48-0 in a Pacific League clash.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe defense stepped up early,\u201d said Bulldogs Head Coach Hector Valencia. \u201cThey kept us in the game until the offense started to click. The kids might have taken them (Hoover) for granted and it is my responsibility to get them ready to play them.\u201d<\/p>\n
After heading into the locker room with a 14-0 lead at the half, Burbank came out in the second half with bite as they scored 27-points at will. The longest drive in the third quarter came at the beginning as the Bulldogs drove 79-yards on eight plays. Austin Mowatt found Teddy Arlington on a screen-pass for a 14-yard score.<\/p>\n
The final three scores in the third quarter were quick-strikes with a ground and air attack. A 77-yard run from Danny Martinez began the scoring barrage that occurred the final 7:11 for the Bulldogs. On its next possession, Frances Nicks was on the receiving end of a Mowatt pass for a 78-yard reception. Nicks got behind the Hoover defense after it tried to stuff the box.<\/p>\n
The final dagger came with 1:27 remaining on an innocent pass from Mowatt to Arlington that turned into a 53-yard touchdown pass. It only took the Bulldogs two plays to score.<\/p>\n
Mowatt had his best game of the year by going 8-for-11 for 226 yards and three touchdowns. He threw one interception.<\/p>\n
Castro and Martinez combined to rush for 206 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n
Arlington finished the night with five catches and 123 yards and two scores, along with 44 yards on the ground. Arlington also scored a rushing touchdown before the half.<\/p>\n
What will be remembered most from the game occurred with 10:13 remaining in the second quarter. With the score deadlocked at zero and Burbank driving. After Herman Castro ran the ball toward the Hoover sideline a scuffle broke out between a Tornado coach and Bulldog players.<\/p>\n
Luke Taboyoyong led Hoover with 59 yards on 20 carries.<\/p>\n
When the dust settled Quortney Brazier, Robert Fowlkes, and Craig Nesbitt were all ejected for their parts in the incident. The only thing clear in the incident was that the Hoover coach grabbed Brazier.<\/p>\n
\u201cA Hoover coach grabbed Quortney,\u201d said Valencia. \u201cWe lost three starters in this game and the Arcadia game. Brazier plays on offense and defense so it\u2019s a big blow.\u201d<\/p>\n
The repercussions from the ejection will be felt well into next week as Brazier, Fowlkes and Nesbitt will all be suspend for the game against Arcadia.<\/p>\n
