Softball is barreling down on the high school scene with more questions than answers heading into the 2012 season.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This season doesn\u2019t seem to have that one super team such as La Canada last season, but South Hills still returns a core group of players that could eventually see them in Irvine for its third finals appearance.<\/p>\n<p>The Spartans still favored to win the Rio Hondo League will have to fight through Championship hangover for the first couple of weeks before we truly know how good they are with both Lauren O\u2019Leary and Anna Edwards playing in college.<\/p>\n<p>Without further ado, here begins this season\u2019s top 20.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>South Hills (0-0) \u2013 The Huskies bring back almost every player that has appeared in two finals appearance.<\/li>\n<li>La Mirada (3-1) \u2013 Can the Matadores make it back to back finals appearances with nearly the same roster?<\/li>\n<li>La Canada (0-0) \u2013 Lauren Cox and Catherine Horner make a potent battery combination.<\/li>\n<li>Bonita (0-1) \u2013 Anissa Sanchez returns to the circle for Bearcats.<\/li>\n<li>Crescenta Valley (0-0) \u2013 Hannah Cookson is one to watch in CV land.<\/li>\n<li>Duarte (1-0) \u2013 Will Falcons regress from impressive 2011 season?<\/li>\n<li>Burroughs (2-0) \u2013 Haley Schulman will get the bulk of the starts as pitcher for Indians.<\/li>\n<li>Montebello (1-0) \u2013 Early favorites to win Almont with potent offensive lineup.<\/li>\n<li>Whittier Christian (1-0) \u2013 Mandie Perez is arguably one of the best middle infielders in the area.<\/li>\n<li>La Serna (0-1) \u2013 Lancers will have competition for Del Rio League title this season.<\/li>\n<li>St. Lucy\u2019s (1-1) \u2013 Dani O\u2019Toole is nearly unhittable for the Regents.<\/li>\n<li>San Dimas (1-1) \u2013 Can\u2019t argue with good pitching combo of Elizabeth Celaya and Kaili Now.<\/li>\n<li>San Marino (2-1) \u2013 Michelle Floyd looks to rebound after tough sophomore season.<\/li>\n<li>West Covina (1-2) \u2013 Bulldogs look to battle Bonita for Hacienda Supremacy.<\/li>\n<li>Keppel (1-0) \u2013 Aztecs have been second best in Almont last two seasons.<\/li>\n<li>Gabrielino (0-0) \u2013 Could Eagles knock off Arroyo from Mission Valley perch.<\/li>\n<li>Bishop Amat (0-0) \u2013 If not for St. Joseph\u2019s, Lancers would be top in Del Rey.<\/li>\n<li>Northview (0-1) \u2013 Vikings bring back Mejia, Erinn and Sarina Jaramillo.<\/li>\n<li>Glendora (1-1) \u2013 Tartans return Taylor Langdon to lead offense and pitching staff.<\/li>\n<li>Village Christian (3-0) &#8211; \u00a0Katie Lucas takes over in the circle for Emily Seidel.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With winter heading into hibernation and daylight savings time a week away, that means only one thing.
