After all is said and done at the View\u2026it\u2019s Victor Ambruso. It wasn\u2019t the slam dunk like we thought it would be but after several interviews with candidates, declines and even a reposting of the position On the CIF website, it came full circle and Ambruso landed the gig.<\/p>\n

Considering he is on campus, his familiarity with the program and the players and his past coaching experience at places like Azusa Pacific, it looks like a great hire.<\/p>\n

Remember people were wondering who Ibis Aguilar was when he got hired last year and he took South El Monte to a 7-4 record and a playoff appearance.<\/p>\n

As we wait with anticipation to see if the new CIF Division proposals go though one Mid Valley coach said he felt there was no way it would pass. Too many people protesting and too many people upset. I hope he\u2019s right. Is there anyway I, as a member of the media, can cast a \u201cNo\u201d vote on this proposition.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know where Alhambra will finish but with what the Moors have coming back and the enthusiasm of new Head Coach Joe Kanach, you got to like their chances.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t see Schurr, with new HC Marco Ramirez stepping in, being down for long. We all know about Jude Oliva and San Gabriel and Bell Gardens and Montebello should be
\nbetter. This just in: Keppel is looking for a football coach. Anybody got anything on that?<\/p>\n

Arroyo receiver Hunter Duran is pumped about playing football at Pasadena City College next year. \u201cIt feels great to be back on the field running routes and lifting in the weight room. Can\u2019t wait until spring ball,\u201d Duran said.<\/p>\n

Who do the Knights have to replace Duran? Well Andre Kerkhoff for starters who had 65 receptions for 725 yards and five touchdowns last year. Yeah, really, Kerkhoff is coming back. And remember this name\u2026Christian Serna.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the Southmen, did you know that they have quarterback Fernando Ramirez, key receiver Javier Machuca and running back Leo Artiaga all returning to the fold?<\/p>\n

Since we\u2019re in an MVL theme, first year Rosemead Coach Marc Paramo has QB Adan Guillen, receiver Steven San Miguel and lineman Nelson Leon returning.<\/p>\n

El Monte? The Lions might be the scariest of the bunch. Quarterback Brandon Martinez, RB\/LB Ruben Jimenez, primary running back Bryan Luevano and receiver Abel
\nBarajas are all back for their senior seasons.<\/p>\n

Did you know that Ryan Maddox at Monrovia, four years at the helm, is the dean of Rio Hondo League coaches? Yeah it\u2019s hard to believe. The Rio Hondo, which was once a picture of stability with guys like Mike Mooney at TC, Steve Garrison at M-Town, Ed Smith at South Pasadena and La Canada\u2019s Rich Wheeler, has been a revolving door of late.<\/p>\n

Martin Konrad seems to have something going on at South Pas and Mike McFarland has settled in at Temple City. La Canada? Something will be announced soon\u2026we think.<\/p>\n

The CIF allows for high school teams to work out 365 days a year if they like but a lot of schools stick to their previous schedules. Due to players involved in other sports, and the fear of burn out, the majority of coaches\u00a0say they don\u2019t really kick it into high gear until May.<\/p>\n

But for players who do want to work out there is another opportunity. Legends of Character at San Gabriel High School is running every Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. SG Coaches Oliva, Matt Lopez, Donald Bernard and Dakota Wesleyan OC and former SG star Zeke Prado and company all do a great job in working with the players in a variety of skills. And don\u2019t worry. If you\u2019re from another school you won\u2019t suddenly be donning Matador colors in September.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s my principle.<\/p>\n
