(San Gabriel)- Gabrielino erupted to a 21-0\u00a0first quarter lead and relied upon its defense afterwards to fend off\u00a0Bosco Tech for a 27-21 victory.<\/p>\n

Sophomore quarterback Elijah Peters connected with Jeremy Franco\u00a0from 18- yards, then\u00a0found Brian Vargas for a 57-yard daylight dash to the end zone.<\/p>\n

Linebacker Chris Montoya, who recovered a fumble that led to his team’s first score,\u00a0again surfaced for the Tongva\u00a0Nation with an\u00a0interception\u00a0that put GHS at Bosco’s 29.<\/div>\n

Peters sustained a sack for an 8-yard loss before Lorenzo Mena broke loose through middle and leftward on second and 18 for a 36-yard\u00a0score to make it 21-0 with\u00a01:38\u00a0to play in the opening stanza.<\/div>\n

The Tigers roared back in the\u00a0second quarter, netting their first score when Carlos Ramirez trucked in a 6-yarder.\u00a0Bosco defensive back Max Mora intercepted a Peters pass\u00a0and dashed\u00a048-yards for the pick-six to bring BT back to within a touchdown.<\/div>\n

The third quarter\u00a0was scoreless for both squads but\u00a0the Eagles Cameryn Matthews ended the frame with a big 37-yard reception deep in Tiger territory as time ran out.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Bosco held their ground, though, and the Eagles settled for an Oscar Palma 41- yard field goal as Gabrielino bought some breathing room.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Moments later\u00a0the breathing room was gone as the Tigers David Fuentez returned the ensuing kick 91-yards for a touchdown to trim Gabrielino’s lead to three, 24-21.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
With 7:51 left Palma belted another field goal thru the uprights,\u00a0this time a 35-yarder, to bookend all scoring.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Tigers went three and out on their final possession with Gabrielino’s Eddie Garcia batting\u00a0away a key fourth\u00a0down pass.<\/div>\n

Peters completed 9 of 15\u00a0by air, amassing 171 yards with one interception and two touchdowns.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Bosco Tech’s Carlos Ramirez led all rushers, carrying the rock 23 times for 111 yards and one touchdown.<\/div>\n
