{"id":2677,"date":"2009-09-12T10:28:54","date_gmt":"2009-09-12T17:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2677"},"modified":"2009-09-12T10:38:26","modified_gmt":"2009-09-12T17:38:26","slug":"payback-for-the-conquerors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=2677","title":{"rendered":"Payback for the Conquerors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Duane Barker<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2678\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2678\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2678\" title=\"Randy Rodriguez\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/Week-1-2009-010-copy_filtered-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"Randy Rodriguez leads the way for the Conquerors\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-2678\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Randy Rodriguez leads the way for the Conquerors<\/p><\/div>\n<p>(Hacienda Heights) The Los Altos Conquerors used a 20 point third quarter to pull away and get their first win of the season Friday night in a 34-6 win over the visiting North View Vikings.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The win was a little retribution for the 9-7 loss on a game ending field goal last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cLast week we weren\u2019t ready to play.\u00a0 Even some of our seniors had that deer-in-headlights look.\u00a0 We will be better this week\u201d commented Los Altos Head Coach Felipe Aguilar prior to the contest.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Both defenses stepped up to start the game and the first half\u2019s loan score came just passed the midway point in the second quarter. A 12-yard pass from Justin Zamano to Ryan Longoria capped a seven play 72-yard drive.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Los Altos went up 14-0 early in the third period when Vincent Becerra stepped in front of a Martin Arredondo pass and returned in 28-yards for the score.\u00a0 Arrendondo struggled in his first start completing five of 12 passes for only 26-yards and the interception.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0An Arredondo fumble at his own 31 set the Conquerors up deep in North\u00a0View territory\u00a0.\u00a0 Los Altos took full advantage on\u00a0a three-yard screen from Zamano to Andrew Yamakawa\u00a0 that put Los Altos up 20-0.\u00a0 Zamano completed six of 11 passed for 75-yards and two scores on the night.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe were bad tonight all the way around.\u00a0 Turnovers, penalties, we had trouble even getting on and off the field.\u00a0 We are young and we knew we would take some lumps early, hopefully we\u2019ll get better\u201d North View Head Coach Jim Arrellanes after the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0North View\u2019s lone highlight of the evening came on the ensuing kickoff.\u00a0 Josh Orona picked up the kickoff at his own 22-yard line, weaved his way through the defenders, got to the edge and was gone for a 78-yard return.\u00a0\u00a0 The extra point was blocked but the Vikings exhibited some signs of life.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Those signs were quickly doused as Longoria took the ensuing kickoff back 90-yards setting his team up with first and goal at the North View five.\u00a0 Kameron Germany made the saving tackle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Conquerors capitalized on the big play quickly on the first play from scrimmage.\u00a0 Randy Rodriguez punched it in from the five and when Omar Patino added the extra point, Los Altos led 27-6.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The final dagger came from Rodriguez when he found a crease and went 30-yards for the score.\u00a0 Rodriguez finished the night carrying the ball 15 times for 97-yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Conquerors travel east next week to take on Ayala while North View stays home and plays host to the Arroyo Knights.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Scoring:<\/p>\n<p>North View:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 00\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 00\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 06\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 00<\/p>\n<p>Los Altos:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 00\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 07\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 07<\/p>\n<p>\u00a02<sup>nd<\/sup>Qtr:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 5:38 LA &#8211;
