There’s “good time”, “prime time”, “happy time”, and “LIONS TIME!”<\/p><\/div>\n

(El Monte)- Mt. View did what only two other teams have this season against El Monte. No, they didn’t beat them but they joined Covina and Arroyo as the only teams in 2012 to keep the Lions offense under 40-points.<\/p>\n

If this was the hiccup El Monte needed have before moving ahead with the rest of its business, then they survived it pretty well with a 38-20 victory over the visiting Vikings.<\/p>\n

Brandon Martinez accounted for five touchdowns, two through the air and three on the ground. The touchdown passes give him 30 on the season.<\/p>\n

Abel Barajas caught eight passes for 122 yards, one going a for a score. The touchdown reception advanced his season total to 12, leaving him five behind the school record of 17 set by Ray McNeil in 1979.<\/p>\n

The Lions also got another solid game from junior Angel Gonzalez, who has stepped in for the banged up Bryan Luevano the last two weeks and provided more than a solid effort. Friday night he accounted for 150 yards rushing.<\/p>\n

Mt. View was its own worst enemy turning the ball over several times and short circuiting a fine effort by its ground game.<\/p>\n

El Monte is now 6-2, 3-0 in league. The loss is the Vikings fourth in a row leaving them at 3-5 and 0-3 in the Mission Valley League.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
