(El Monte)- Bassett (3-1) started fast and finished with a 28-10 victory over Mountain View (0-4) on Friday night.<\/p>\n
Olympian quarterback Robert Rodriguez opened things with a 45-yard touchdown pass to Michael Pena, but the conversion was missed.<\/p>\n
After having a kick-off return for a touchdown called back, Mt. View responded with a 55-yard touchdown pass from Jason Cordero to Jesus Ordaz. Ordaz would add the extra-point and the Vikes had a 7-6 lead.<\/p>\n
In the second quarter Bassett\u2019s Rodriguez went 19-yards to Rene Payan and recaptured the lead at 14-7 after the quarterback converted the deuce.<\/p>\n
Rodriguez later scored on a one-yard run just before the half to make it 20-7.<\/p>\n
In the third the Vikings Ordaz kicked a 32-yard field goal to cut the lead to 20-10<\/p>\n
The Olympians Andrew Varela closed out the scoring in the fourth with a three-yard run. On the two-point attempt Jacob Flores, on a halfback option, hit Roy Noriega to seal the deal.<\/p>\n
