(La Verne) – Bishop Amat beat Upland to win the championship\u00a0at the Air Assault Saturday at Bonita High School. Culver City won the consolation championship game against Santiago. The two day event featured\u00a030 teams and started Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Arroyo, led by returning quarterback Nathan Coto,\u00a0went 3-2 on Friday then lost its first game on Saturday to\u00a0Santa Fe. The Knights beat Ontario Christian but fell to\u00a0Culver City. On Friday\u00a0Arroyo\u00a0knocked off Monrovia, Kaiser and Ayala and lost to Bonita and Glendora. The game against Kaiser lasted four overtimes.<\/p>\n

“We were\u00a0wiped out after Friday. We competed hard all day in that heat against\u00a0five really tough teams,” said Arroyo Coach Jim Singiser. “We were in every game.\u00a0We played hard.\u00a0To get four wins\u00a0in that tournament in our pool…we’ll take it. I mean look at the teams we played.\u00a0Try to find four wins in that schedule.”<\/p>\n

Monrovia lost to Charter Oak\u00a0on Saturday. The Wildcats have first year quarterback\u00a0Deshawn Potts ready to replace the\u00a0graduated Blake Heyworth. Monrovia transfer running back\u00a0Kurt Scoby was there but did not play. Charter Oak is led by senior quarterback\u00a0 Kory Brown.<\/p>\n
