Another big game for Terrell Watson<\/p><\/div>\n

(St. George, UT) – Terrell Watson rushed for\u00a0165 yards and two touchdowns\u00a0and Nick Owens threw for 163 yards to lead Azusa Pacific to a 36-20 win over Dixie State Saturday night at Hansen Stadium.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The game was halted early in the second quarter and\u00a0delayed two hours and 14 minutes due to a lightning storm\u00a0that swept through.\u00a0APU lead 6-0 when play was stopped with just over 14 minutes left in the first half. The Cougars then opened up a 26-7 advantage\u00a0at halftime.<\/p>\n

***Watson scored on a 54 yard run in the first quarter to put the Cougars up 6-0. His other TD was a 10 yard jaunt in the third which\u00a0gave Azusa Pacific an insurmountable 33-7 lead.<\/p>\n

***Owens completed 14 of 17 with no interceptions and also\u00a0ran for a score.<\/p>\n

***The Cougars piled up\u00a0391 yards of total offense. Dixie State, despite the 16 point loss had 380.<\/p>\n

***Owens’\u00a0touchdown passes\u00a0both came in the second quarter.\u00a0He hit Mike Martens for a 17 yard score and Tanner Henry for a 23 yard strike in the\u00a0left corner.<\/p>\n

The APU D kept the Dixie State ground game in check.<\/p><\/div>\n

***Martens caught six passes for 92 yards.<\/p>\n

***APU led 36-7 in the fourth quarter before Dixie State\u00a0scored two late touchdowns. Both were touchdown passes were by backup quarterback Brady Garr.<\/p>\n

***APU had five sacks in the contest.<\/p>\n

*** “We really responded after the weather delay. We were really in sync. I have to give credit to our O-line.\u00a0They really stepped up,” Owens said.<\/p>\n

*** “We have a lot of weapons\u00a0now on offense. But they do need more experience.\u00a0On defense\u00a0we need to take that next step.” – APU HC Victor Santa Cruz.<\/p>\n

*** “Azusa Pacific\u00a0improved to 1-1 with the victory\u00a0while Dixie State dropped to 0-2.<\/p>\n
