San Dimas HC Bill Zernickow was fired up Friday night at the scrimmage<\/p><\/div>\n

So Tony Dungy and Phil Simms refuse to use the word Redskins when referring to the franchise this year because they feel it is offensive. Now does this apply to all causes? What if announcers are opposed to the gay life style? Do they refuse to mention the name Michael Sam when working St. Louis Ram games?<\/p>\n

Do they say \u201cthat was a great play by number 96?\u201d What if another is offended by players that have committed violence against women? Do they not mention Ray Rice\u2019s name when announcing Baltimore Ravens contests? I can hear it now. \u201cNumber 27 for the Ravens has rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns!\u201d<\/p>\n

This can go on and on. An announcer doesn\u2019t like Mormons? It’s a simple fix. Just allow him to not work any BYU games. Does Notre Dame get the silent treatment when an announcer is offended by Catholicism?<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s not just football. Can you imagine a horse racing announcer that is offended by a particular horse\u2019s name. \u201cAnd down the stretch they come! The brown horse with the jockey dressed in red is making a move on the outside! And the brown horse wins by a nose! Yeah, the brown horse with the jockey dressed in red!\u201d<\/p>\n

By not using the name Redskins Dungy and Simms are not doing their jobs. The team\u2019s name, like it or not, is Redskins. When referring to that said team you refer to them by their nickname. And if you can\u2019t do that then you should move on to another job. It has nothing to do with the name Redskins being offensive or not. It has everything to do with Simms and Dungy doing the job that they are being paid to do. And if they refuse to do the job then CBS and NBC respectively should relieve them of their duties.<\/p>\n

I expected Sam Bradford to go down at some point in the season. I just didn\u2019t expect it to be in August- and not for the year. At least he got injured before the Fantasy draft. Now nobody will get stuck with him.<\/p>\n

Breaking news! The 49ers finally scored a touchdown. However it was with Blaine Gabbert at quarterback.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not used to seeing San Dimas HC Bill Zernickow that fired up. Maybe it\u2019s because he\u2019s usually up in the crow\u2019s nest. Friday night in a scrimmage against Diamond Ranch he was on the sideline and he was screaming at the defense, hollering at the offense and pumping up the players every chance he got. Every big play was met with a shout, a fist pump, or animated gesture. Maybe he should work the sideline more often.<\/p>\n

It all gets under way this week with some huge games on the docket. Arroyo at San Marino, Baldwin Park at El Monte, Bonita at Schurr and Burbank at Ayala are just a few of several games that we need to keep an eye on. What\u2019s the blockbuster of the week? That would be Monrovia traveling to the aforementioned San Dimas to take on the Saints. Who wins? It\u2019s tough to say. It might depend on where Zernickow is.<\/p>\n
