{"id":41898,"date":"2014-09-19T18:57:24","date_gmt":"2014-09-20T01:57:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=41898"},"modified":"2017-06-10T10:06:00","modified_gmt":"2017-06-10T17:06:00","slug":"monrovia-0-st-francis-0-1st-qtr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=41898","title":{"rendered":"St. Francis Finishes Fast, 35-13"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_42102\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?attachment_id=42102\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-42102\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42102\" class=\"wp-image-42102\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/st-francis-monrovia-9-19-14-008-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"Areg Nazarian had 160 yards for St. Franks \" width=\"340\" height=\"255\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-42102\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Areg Nazarian had 160 yards for St. Franks<\/p><\/div>\n<p>By Tim Peterson<\/p>\n<p>(La Canada) &#8211; St. Francis scored three times in the fourth quarter to\u00a0break open a close game and finish off Monrovia\u00a035-13 Friday night at Friedman Field.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The Golden Knights led 7-6 at half time and 14-13 after three quarters before blowing it wide open\u00a0in the fourth.\u00a0 Monrovia, trailing\u00a021-13 had a golden opportunity to get even late in the fourth\u00a0as they mounted a drive down the field.\u00a0But Mason Williams jumped\u00a0in front of\u00a0intended receiver Octavius Spencer\u00a0and interecepted Asaph Zamora&#8217;s pass in the end zone with\u00a0just under five minutes left to secure the victory.<\/p>\n<p>St. Francis went on to score\u00a0twice more in the last four minutes plus\u00a0to turn what was a close game\u00a0into a\u00a0perceived rout.\u00a0The Golden Knights\u00a0scored three plays after the interception and closed it out with a defensve touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>***After Williams&#8217; pick, three plays later Dylan Crawford\u00a0took a handoff\u00a0and raced past the Monrovia secondary 54 yards for a touhcdown.<\/p>\n<p>***On the next series, Nick Horner\u00a0intercepted a\u00a0deflected Zamora pass and rumbled 59 yards for a score.\u00a0In a span of 1:06 the score went from\u00a021-13 to 35-13.<\/p>\n<p>***Crawford also\u00a0scored the first touchdown of the game\u00a0when he got behind the Monrovia secondary and hauled in\u00a0a 52-yard pass from\u00a0Jeremiah Martin on the first series of the game to put St. Francis up\u00a07-0.<\/p>\n<p>****Monrovia managed just two Blake Cusick field goals in the first half &#8211;\u00a0from 32 and 36 yards.<\/p>\n<p>***Crawford, who has received several D-1 offers,\u00a0caught four passes for 125 yards in addition to the\u00a0fourth quarter TD on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>***Martin completed\u00a012-18 for 267 yards and\u00a0a touchdown.\u00a0Tight end John Carroll had four receptions for\u00a073 yards.<\/p>\n<p>***Zamora was\u00a017-32 for 264 yards and a touchdown for M-Town. He was hurt by the two\u00a0intereceptions which both came in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p>***St Francis took the eight point lead on a 53-yard\u00a0run by Areg Nazarian with 8:05 left in the fourth. The run came off a counter play which completely caught Monrovia&#8217;s defense by surprise.
