The Colts were looking to beat the Saints and set up a showdown next week with Northview for the Valle Vista League title. On the other side, the Saint s needed the win to assure a second place league finish and assure themselves a place in the post season.<\/p>\n<p>San Dimas was not as precise on offense as usual turned the ball over three times but Covina was only able to capitalize on one of those turnovers. A 14-yard run by Pearnell Smalley capped off a three play 22-yard drive. The blocked extra point left the Colts trailing by one.<\/p>\n<p>The teams went into halftime with the Saints leading 14-12 and that score would remain through the entire third quarter.<\/p>\n<p>San Dimas scored the their final touchdown on a 29-yard run by Edward Siapno. The Saints held on to a 21-12 lead until late in the final frame.<\/p>\n<p>Colt Joe Benavidez found Kevin Hynes in the endzone from 26-yards away with only :14 left on the clock. Hynes made a acrobatic catch going up between defenders to come down with the ball.<\/p>\n<p>Covina was unsuccessful in recovering the onside kick and with no timeouts remaining, all San Dimas had to do was neal down one time to close out the contest.<\/p>\n<p>*** Siapno lead all ground gainers on the night with 149-yards and the two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>*** Smalley led the Colts with 105-yards on 23 carries and the lone score.<\/p>\n<p>*** Through the air, the numbers were all on the side of Benavidez who connected on 22 of 38 for 202-yards and one touchdown. Benavidez also added 41-yards and a touchdown on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>*** Manny Elizalde got the bulk of the carries for San Dimas with 19 for 148-yards.<\/p>\n<p>*** Benavidez&#8217;s favorite target on the night was Eric &#8220;Pooh&#8221; Williams who hauled in nine balls for 46-yards.
