(South El Monte) – Chaz Miller ran for a touchdown and threw for one while Randy Amezcua added\u00a0three on the ground to lead Arroyo to a 34-22 win over South El Monte Friday night.<\/p>\n

For the Knights it was their third straight victory and they finished third in the Mission Valley League. Arroyo\u00a0now waits to see\u00a0if they can get in the dance as a third place team.<\/p>\n

In the first half, Arroyo did not waste time to get to the end zone. With 3:15 left in the first quarter, Miller connected with Anthony Barcelo for 73-yard bomb putting his team up seven.<\/div>\n

Two drives later, Miller added six more when he walked in to the endzone from 15-yards out. The Knights lead the Eagles 14-0 at the end of the first half.<\/div>\n

After the break, Miller and the Arroyo offense continued to move the ball down the field. They took 13 plays and killed almost five minutes off the clock before Amezcua pushed his way into the endzone from two yards out. He was also scored on a 20-yard run on the Knights next possession.<\/div>\n

After the back-to-back touchdowns by Amezcua, Arroyo lead 27-0 late in the third quarter.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
South El Monte finally responded with a touchdown drive of their own when quarterback Jamie Michel threw his first touchdown pass of the game with 24 seconds left in the third quarter. They also converted on the 2-point conversion making the score 27-8.<\/div>\n

The Eagles continued to move the ball on offense following their touchdown drive. This time running back Marcos Lopez found the endzone from five yards out making the score 27-14 but could not convert on the 2-point try.<\/div>\n

Amezuca ended the hopes of a\u00a0 Eagle comeback when he scored his third touchdown from a yard out with 6:36 left to play.<\/div>\n

Lopez added a second rushing touchdown late in the fourth pushing the score to 34-22 but the Knights ended the game with a knee with less than a minute to play.<\/div>\n
