Andy Brown caught a pair of game changing touchdown passes for the Oilers<\/p><\/div>\n

(Montebello) – Montebello scored 36 points in the second half\u00a0to overcome a 17 point deficit and beat\u00a0Arroyo\u00a036-27 Friday night.<\/p>\n

Arroyo shut out Montebello\u00a0in the first half while jumping out to\u00a0a 17-0 lead but the\u00a0game turned in the third quarter when Arroyo turned the ball over on fumbles on consecutive series and the Oilers took advantage\u00a0with 14 points. Arroyo quarterback\u00a0Humberto Pantoja took a shot and had to leave the game\u00a0and Montebello seized the opportunity\u00a0by forcing two fumbles and turning them into touchdowns.<\/p>\n

After taking over on the 31, Andy Brown got free for a 31 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rivera to cut the lead to 17-14. On the very next series,\u00a0Arroyo backup quarterback Jason Villa\u00a0was popped, and was separated from the ball. Montebello fell on it on the 30 and on the first play\u00a0the Oilers\u00a0went for it all. Rivera hit Eric Bruesch in the flat who in turn threw a strike to\u00a0Brown\u00a0who danced into the end zone. In matter of one minute the Oilers turned a 17-7 deficit into a 20-17 lead.<\/p>\n

Arroyo tied at\u00a020 on and then, after an Oiler\u00a0turnover, Thien “Chuck” Luu scored on a 13 yard touchdown run for a 27-20 advantage.<\/p>\n

Arroyo’s Humberto Pantoja ran for one and threw for one but it wasn’t enough<\/p><\/div>\n

That was the last time the Knights\u00a0scored as Isaac Mendibles and the Oiler took over in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

*** Rivera scored the Oilers\u00a0first touchdown on the first possession of the second half\u00a0on a 28-yard run by Rivera.<\/p>\n

*** Rivera ran for 51 yards and a score and threw for\u00a0235 and a touchdown.\u00a0He also threw three picks.<\/p>\n

*** Arroyo went up 10-0 in the first quarter on a 29-yard field goal by\u00a0Jesse Ortiz and a\u00a047-yard touchdown pass from\u00a0Pantoja to Antonio Alcazar.<\/p>\n

*** Pantoja’s nine -yard run in the second quarter gave the Knights the 17 point lead.<\/p>\n

*** Brown caught three passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

*** Mendibles scored on touchdown runs of\u00a0nine and one yards in the fourth quarter to give Montebello\u00a0a 34-27 lead.\u00a0The Oilers\u00a0added a safety when Pantoja was called for intentional grounding in the end zone.<\/p>\n

*** There were nine\u00a0turnovers\u00a0between both teams. Montebello had five.<\/p>\n

*** Mendibles had just 61 yards on 17 carries and the two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

*** Sergio Cortez hauled in eight passes for 85 yards for the Oilers.<\/p>\n
