\nI could have sworn during last night\u2019s Providence-USC comedy that I saw Trojans HC Andy Enfield screaming at the Friars bench. He was saying: \u201cHelp me, help you! Help me, help you! Help me\u2026help\u2026you.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a longtime fan of USC basketball (Gus Williams, Marv Safford, Don Carfino, Dwight Anderson etcetera, etcetera)\u2026The buzzer-beating loss to Georgia Tech on James Forrest’s three-point heave in 1992 was far more painful.<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s contest against Providence was entertaining and really hopeful. I think going forward Trojan basketball is in great hands. If everybody stays and the trajectory doesn\u2019t change this will be a Top Ten team next year.<\/p>\n

The problem against the Friars was that they were very young. So, to me at least, the collapse felt inevitable. And because it was inevitable, I slept very well.<\/p>\n

If the current argument for \u201cfree diapers for all\u201d continues\u2014a true debate starting to spark up in D.C.\u2014will there also be a discussion about free tissue for all? I mean with everyone crying about everything these days shouldn\u2019t free tissues be a right?<\/p>\n

Lastly:<\/strong> Whether it is the NCAA tourney, Survivor, or American Idol\u2026I am so sick of knowing everyone’s back story. Before every game, every performance, I got to hear about how someone\u2019s motivation to achieve is to do it for their three-armed sister or five-eyed brother\u2026Pretty soon pieces are going to be put together about how a particular athlete\u2019s grandfather survived Katrina and a victory would be a great boost in the arm for the family.<\/p>\n

Gag\u2026Gag, I say!<\/p>\n

Do you know what intrigues me most about the NCAA tourney? It\u2019s the senior taking the floor knowing his athletic mortality is on the line\u2026It could end in a blowout, a missed free throw, or on a heartbreaking chuck from James Forrest.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve been forbidden to come to any of their games\u2014something about me having bad mojo according to former HC Tamar Hill\u2014but is it wrong to root for them in their regional final ma\u00f1ana against Antelope Valley? Will my positive thoughts infect them with a bad case of the Alfords?<\/p>\n

Midbits:<\/strong> Yeah, I bought, I was rooting for Florida Gulf Coast against North Carolina\u2026Yes, I\u2019m overjoyed at Wichita State\u2019s victory over Arizona. The less all things Tucson, the better\u2026Living in Tucson is like living in El Paso\u2026If you can call that living.<\/p>\n
