1. The Minnesota Timberwolves hire Tom\u00a0Thibodeau as their new head coach and president of basketball operations. He signs a five-year deal for approximately $40 million.<\/p>\n

2. The Philadelphia Eagles acquire the number two overall pick in the NFL draft from the Cleveland Browns for five draft picks.<\/p>\n

3. Former major league pitcher Milt Pappas passed away Tuesday at the age of 71.\u00a0Pappas won 209 games over a 17 year career\u00a0with the Orioles, Reds, Braves\u00a0and the Cubs.\u00a0He\u00a0came within one pitch of\u00a0throwing a perfect game against the Padres in 1972.\u00a0Instead he walked Larry\u00a0Stahl with two outs in the ninth\u00a0on a pitch disputed by Pappas and finished with a no hitter.<\/p>\n

4. The Phoenix Suns remove the interim\u00a0tag from Earl Watson and sign him to a three-year deal\u00a0to be their head coach.<\/p>\n

5. Chino linebacker Jason Duran will play at the University of La Verne next season.<\/p>\n

6. The Carolina Panthers rescind the franchise tag on cornerback Josh Norman, making Norman a free agent\u00a0who can sign with any team in the league.<\/p>\n

7. The new preliminary CIF playoff divisions for football are leaked\u00a0but\u00a0CIF issues a warning\u00a0stating they aren’t final and “anybody who thinks they are is sorely mistaken and will\u00a0look like fools when\u00a0they are finally sent out.”\u00a0The official playoff divisions will be released in August.<\/p>\n

8. Happy Birthday to Dallas Cowboy quarterback Tony Romo, who turns\u00a036 today.<\/p>\n
