Ted Clarke Takes the Reins at Gladstone<\/p><\/div>\n

(Covina) – Long time area coach Ted Clarke was announced as the head coach at Gladstone Friday\u00a0sources confirmed.<\/p>\n

Clarke was the head coach and athletic director last year at Laguna Beach\u00a0where the Breakers finished 2-8.\u00a0One of the reasons that\u00a0factored into Clarke\u00a0moving\u00a0back to the San Gabriel Valley and Gladstone was that it’s much closer to his home.<\/p>\n

Clarke has\u00a0a wealth of experience with\u00a0numerous\u00a0stops during his 20-year\u00a0coaching career. He has been the head coach at Ganesha, Glendale and San Dimas and an assistant at Monrovia.\u00a0On the junior college level\u00a0he has served as the DL coach at Citrus College, and as linebackers coach and DC at Pasadena City College, Mt. SAC and\u00a0Fullerton.<\/p>\n

Clarke takes over at Gladstone for\u00a0Citos Marinez, who stepped down earlier this year\u00a0to take the HC job at\u00a0Jurupa Hills.\u00a0The Gladiators thought they had their head coach in March when Hector Spathias\u00a0was named, but he was dismissed two weeks later\u00a0due to an ongoing issue at Bassett,\u00a0his previous coaching stop.<\/p>\n

“I am thrilled to come home to the SGV. Gladstone gives me the opportunity\u00a0to be a head coach at a great school,” Clarke said. “I know many of the people\u00a0at the school and feel very comfortable there.”<\/p>\n
