Trevor Hill calls his own number for the Vikings lone touchdown.<\/p><\/div>\n

(Downey) The Downey Vikings got a touchdown on a one yard plunge by Trevor Hill late in the first quarter and were able to make it stand in a 7-6 win Friday night at Allen Layne Stadium on the campus of Downey High School. Allen Layne himself was in attendance to watch the contest.
\nIt was a defensive battle in the purest sense of the term as neither team found much traction offensively until the Hill touchdown with 1:01 left in the first quarter. The score was the culmination of a nine play 79-yard drive.<\/p>\n

Burbank had their chances getting possession six times inside Downey territory and only managing one lone score. Forest Fajardo got free in the endzone and Guy Gibbs found him from 27-yards out. The extra point was blocked and the Bulldogs held their slim lead.<\/p>\n

On the night Hill completed 16 of 30 passes for 141 yards through the air and carried the ball six times for 30 yards and the games lone score.<\/p>\n

Gibbs hit on 14 of 30 passes for 129 yards. Gibbs’ main target was Nicolas Warren who hauled in seven receptions for 66 yards. Warren was also the leading ball carrier for Burbank with 52 yards on 18 carries.<\/p>\n

Leading the way on the ground for the Vikings was Baraq Ross who carried the ball 16 times for 91 yards.<\/p>\n

Up front the bubbas for Burbank were Scott Breslin, Anthony Lira, Ivan Ramos, Ray Chavez and Timothy Han.<\/p>\n

For Downey, the guys plowing the road were Steven George, Cesar Villalobos, Jose Martinez, Joaquin Nunez and Manuel Sencion.<\/p>\n

The Vikings next week will travel south to Long Beach to take on Millikan. The Bulldogs will take next week off in preparation for Pacific League action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
