Elijah Washington finds paydirt twice in the win over Buena Park.<\/p><\/div>\n

(La Canada) \u2014 St. Francis\u2019 running backs Elijah Washington and Jace Harrick combined for 152 yards on 33 carries in the Golden Knights 28-19 win over Buena Park Friday night at Friedman Field.<\/p>\n

The Coyotes jumped to a 6-0 lead on Deshaun Harvey’s 30-yard touchdown pass to Devon Cooley late in the first quarter. This was Buena Park\u2019s lone highlight in the first half as its defense allowed 21 unanswered point to trail 21-6 at intermission.<\/p>\n

Early in the second quarter, Washington scored on a 23-yard run. He added his second touchdown on the Golden Knights three minutes later, extending the lead 14-6.<\/p>\n

Solid defense and tackling by the Golden Knights helped keep the Coyotes’ offense in check.<\/p><\/div>\n

St. Francis added seven more with 5:06 left when Michael Bonds found Daniel Scott wide open in the middle of the field for the 52-yard touchdown pass.<\/p>\n

The Coyotes cut into the Golden Knights lead when Harvey and Cooley connected for their second touchdown score at the start of the second half. However, St. Francis responded on its next possession when Bonds optioned to keep the ball and score from 9-yards out.<\/p>\n

Early in the final stanza Buena Park’s Elijah Gates returned\u00a0the kick off 93-yards to paydirt. The Coyotes tried for two but Harvey\u2019s pass fell incomplete.The Golden Knights lead 28-19 with 10:16 left in the fourth.<\/p>\n

Buena Park tried to make a comeback with five minutes left to play. They managed to drive down the field in nine plays but their final drive was halted on four straight incomplete passes in the red zone.<\/p>\n

Next week St. Francis (5-0) looks to stay undefeated when they host La Salle. Buena Park (4-1) will hope to rebound next week when they host Sonora.<\/p>\n
