Vanessa Dwyer threw a complete game victory in her debut for Vanguard University<\/p><\/div>\n

(Costa Mesa) –\u00a0She’s been playing\u00a0softball\u00a0since she\u00a0was\u00a0six years old. From Temple City American\u00a0Little League\u00a0to\u00a0Temple City\u00a0ASA\u00a0to\u00a0La Salle High School along with\u00a0numerous travel ball teams along the way.\u00a0Saturday Vanessa Dwyer saw the fruits of all her labor pay off as she took the circle\u00a0at Vanguard University.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After 12 years of toiling away on softball fields\u00a0across Southern California and beyond Dwyer’s dream of playing college ball was finally realized.\u00a0And she made the most of the opportunity\u00a0throwing a complete game 6-1 victory over\u00a0Claremont-Mudd Saturday afternoon in\u00a0the second game of a doubleheader.\u00a0The only run she allowed was unearned.<\/p>\n

For Dwyer\u00a0her college debut was\u00a0not only a dream realized and the culmination of\u00a0over a decade of hard work, but\u00a0also the\u00a0start of a new chapter\u00a0in her life.\u00a0For the next four years Vanessa Dwyer, who\u00a0once tossed the ball around\u00a0Live Oak Park\u00a0as a\u00a0six year old girl,\u00a0will be pitching for the\u00a0Vanguard University Lions.<\/p>\n
