(Montebello)-Manuel\u00a0Garcia, who played fullback and linebacker for Schurr last year, will continue his football career at the University of Redlands in the fall.<\/p>\n

Garcia will sign his letter of intent tomorrow at a ceremony at Schurr\u00a0to play\u00a0for\u00a0Redlands where he will receive a guaranteed four years of tuition and textbooks from the university.<\/p>\n

As a three – year starter at Schurr Garcia played multiple positions.\u00a0As sophomore\u00a0he played outside linebacker and in his junior year he played tight end. Last year he split time between linebacker and fullback.<\/p>\n

“Manuel was very versatile for Schurr over the last three years and probably would have had a lot more success\u00a0had we left him at one position,” said Schurr Head Coach David Ramos. “But\u00a0because of injuries and depth we had to move him all over the field. He was originally slotted to play fullback but after our two inside linebackers were injured we plugged Manuel into\u00a0that spot and he did an amazing job\u00a0leading our defense into second place\u00a0in the Almont League and into the second round of the playoffs.”<\/p>\n

Garcia, 6-2, 220, is slated to play inside linebacker at Redlands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
