Cathedral QB Bryce Young had the look…and the arm in the rout of Arcadia<\/p><\/div>\n

(Arcadia)- Bryce Young threw for 327 yards and six touchdowns to lead Cathedral to a 49-0 rout of Arcadia Friday night at Salter Field.<\/p>\n

Young missed on just four passes all night, completing 24 of 28 and shredding the Apaches defense. Young was replaced in the third quarter but by that time all of the Phantom points were accounted for.<\/p>\n

On the first possession Cathedral drove 57 yards on nine plays culminating with a 19-yard Young touchdown pass to Josiah Zamora.<\/p>\n

Arcadia fumbled the ball away on its first series and the Phantoms took over at the Apache 23. They immediately seized the opportunity when Young, on the second play, found Ahmad Lipscomb for an eight-yard score.<\/p>\n

Early in the second quarter Young went to the shovel pass as he pitched it over the middle to Colin Payne who sprinted 18 yards to glory for a 21-0 lead.<\/p>\n

It was 28-0 less than two minutes later as Young this time went vertical connecting with a wide open Lipscomb who outran the Apache secondary for a 64-yard score.<\/p>\n

The lead ballooned to 42 by halftime as a short punt set up a Young to Alex Franco 23-yard TD strike and late in the half Young did it one more time as the sophomore fired a one-yard TD bullet to Jordan Washington.<\/p>\n

The Apaches informed the officials at halftime that they did not want a running clock in the third quarter. Cathedral obliged by putting one more on the board on a 25-yard run by Payne.<\/p>\n

Payne had five catches for 53 yards and a score and rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown. Lipscomb had two receptions for 72 yards and a score and Franco had five catches for 72 yards to go with his touchdown.<\/p>\n

Y0ung spread the wealth around throwing to eight different receivers.<\/p>\n

For Arcadia Max Davila started at quarterback and played into the second quarter without much success before being replaced by Dylan Guerra. Arcadia had three turnovers on the night including an interception of Guerra by 305 pound defensive tackle London Wiley.<\/p>\n

With the win the Phantoms improved to 2-0 while the Apaches dropped to 1-1.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
