(Pasadena) – Pasadena jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead, extended it to 22 at the half and rolled to an 81-62 win over Muir Friday night at Maranatha High.<\/p>\n

Darius Brown II led the Bulldogs with 21 points and 12 assists and Bryce Hamilton had 16 points, five rebounds and six blocks. Pasadena had five players in double figures as Omari Moore had 13, Darius Mason scored 14 and Tavian Percy 11.<\/p>\n

Hunter Woods and Tasson Aubry-Thomas each had 22 for the Mustangs.<\/p>\n

Brown II and Hamilton both knocked down threes in the first quarter and Mason had six points as the Bulldogs surged to the 10 point first quarter lead. Pasadena blew it wide open in the second quarter outscoring the Stangs 26-14. Percy joined the party with a three and Brown also continued with the hot hand with another trey.<\/p>\n

Omari Moore electrified the crowd when he beat his man baseline and threw down a rattling\u00a0 jam that had the fans buzzing. Moore, coming off the bench had eight points in the quarter including a three. By the time the quarter ended, everything had been decided except the final score as the Dogs took a 45-23 into the break.<\/p>\n

Muir tried to make a murmur of protest in the third quarter cutting the lead down to 15 at one point as Aubry-Thomas and Woods tried to keep the Mustangs in the hunt. But Pasadena pulled away again to lead by 22 at the end of three.<\/p>\n

Woods had 11 points in the final frame for Muir but it was too little too late. He and Aubry-Thomas were the bulk of the offense combining for 44 of Muir’s 62.<\/p>\n

With the victory Pasadena improved to 13-6 overall and more importantly 6-1 in the Pacific League moving into a first place tie with Muir. The Mustangs are now 14-6 and 6-1.<\/p>\n

Next up for Pasadena is a date with Crescenta Valley Tuesday night as the Bulldogs try to avenge a loss to the Falcons in the league opener.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
