When was the last time you heard that? Although that seems to be the case for the Chargers in the first two weeks. Glendora looked good in the first week in a win over Damien before being leveled last week by Roosevelt Eastvale. This is a game Charter Oak usually gets but this year is an opportunity for the Tartans to reach out and grab it. I think they will.

Glendora 28 Charter Oak 21

Friday August 31

Arroyo (1-1) at Schurr (0-2)

Things have unraveled quickly at Schurr. The Spartans have been outscored 104-35 in the first two games. Regardless of who’s on the roster did anybody expect this? The Knights bounced back last week with a resounding win over Nogales after a Zero Week loss to Bonita. The Knights should roll here. They’re simply better right now.

Arroyo 35 Schurr 10

Crescenta Valley (2-0) at Montebello (1-1)

Crescenta Valley has been impressive as usual coming out of the gate 2-0 led by quarterback Cole Doyle who has passed and run for nearly 600 yards combined. Last week the Falcons dominated Santa Fe in a 27-7 victory. Montebello fell to Garfield in the opener but did bounce back last week to knock off Inglewood. Eduardo Gonzalez has rushed for 206 yards in the first two games. The Oilers will give the Falcons fits, especially at home. But in the end, CV comes out on top.

Crescenta Valley 31 Montebello 21

Don Lugo (0-2) at Monrovia (0-2)

Anybody who had these two teams as a combined a 0-4 after the first two weeks should immediately go to Vegas. The Wildcats were close last week in a two point loss to Alta Loma. Don Lugo has ben outscored 56-7 in its first two games including a 17-0 loss to Alta Loma in Zero Week. Monrovia needs a win and should get it here. It won’t be easy but Monrovia gets it done.

Monrovia 28 Don Lugo 24

San Marino (1-1) at El Monte (2-0)

This could be the game of the week. El Monte has absolutely crushed its first two opponents behind the running of Davon Booth who has 453 yards and eight touchdowns in the first two games. San Marino is smarting after a tough loss to Northview. The Titans were up in the third quarter before costly turnovers led to their downfall. This is El Monte’s first real test. If Vegas had a line it would be pick ’em. The Lions pass the test. Booth and company prevail at home.

El Monte 27 San Marino 20

Temple City (1-0) at Alhambra (2-0) Moor Field

Alhambra has raised a few eyebrows early. Although South El Monte and Rowland aren’t exactly Mater Dei and St. John Bosco, the Moors will take it all the same. Temple City did what it needed to against Keppel. TC hangs in, maybe grabs an early lead, until the Moors rally to get the W. Alhambra 3-0!

Alhambra 20 Temple City 17

Whittier (2-0) at San Dimas (1-0)

Whittier is 2-0 but that comes to an end this week. Whittier has scored 70 points in its first two games, not this week. The Saints rolled Long Beach Wilson and will roll again at home. The Saints racked up 413 yards…in one game. Kyler Moreli and Jacob Buccola combined for 249 yards. San Dimas runs right through Whittier.

San Dimas 38 Whittier 14

West Covina (1-1) at Northview (2-0) Covina District Field

Northview head coach Marcel Perez may have to sit this one out. He was ejected last week in the waning moments of the win over San Marino for a sideline infraction and an ejection means you sit out the next game. Perez indicated they will appeal the decision. It won’t matter though. The Vikings have looked good in their first two victories over El Rancho and San Marino. James Jimenez has picked up nicely for four-year starter Steven Comstock. West Co got its first W last week against Crenshaw. Northview needs to avoid a slow start like it had last week but even if they don’t the Vikings will be fine. They’ll pull away in the second half.

Northview 34 West Covina 20

[12816
10508
post-64484","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hsfootball","tag-game-night
["GET
