San Dimas (3-1) at California (3-2)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cal is improved this year. In the Condors three wins this years they have racked up 168 points. San Dimas has been running the ball like…well, like San Dimas. The Saints rushing attack is in full throttle mode like usual. They have only one loss – to undefeated Bonita in the Smudge Pot. Cal might come up with a big play or two and make it interesting early but the Saints have too much overall. They will eventually wear Cal down.<\/p>\n

South El Monte (2-3) at Mt. View (1-4)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Big game for South El Monte. Everybody assumes Arroyo and El Monte are a lock of one-two in the Mission Valley but the Eagles want to make sure they can at least secure that third spot. A loss to Mt. View would derail that thought quickly. South might not be the team of last year but the Eagles do have enough to beat the Vikings. View has struggled this season but did manage a win over Duarte. SEM gets the W.<\/p>\n

Arroyo (3-1) at Gabrielino (4-1)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don’t let Gabrielino’s record fool you. This won’t be close. The Eagles are 4-1 but their schedule doesn’t exactly resemble murderer’s row. Arroyo fell once – again to unbeaten Bonita- while rolling the other three opponents. The Knights won’t be tested in league until they meet El Monte on October 12. This will be over by half.<\/p>\n

Pacific <\/strong><\/p>\n

Arcadia (2-2) at Burbank (2-2) at Burroughs <\/strong><\/p>\n

We’ll see where both teams are right away in the Pacific. Arcadia outscored Burroughs last week while Burbank was dispensing of Hoover. You can expect a high scoring affair. Both teams have shown a propensity to put points on the board. The question is who makes the most stops? Burbank can shut people down. The Bulldogs held Monrovia to just 12 in Zero Week. It might come down to who has the ball last. Burbank is physical while the Apaches are just fast. Arcadia makes the big plays late to pull it off.<\/p>\n

Covina (3-1) at Bonita (4-0) at San Dimas\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Covina can score, we saw that last week. But Bonita can make stops. We’ve seen that all year. J.P. Andrade will be throwing the ball all over the lot. Nin Burns II and Covina will throw with the Bearcats…for awhile. Bonita will jump out early forcing the Colts to play catch up all night. And they’ll stay within a touchdown for awhile. But eventually Covina will be stopped and Bonita will take full advantage to pull away. Bonita ices it in the fourth.<\/p>\n

Warren (2-2) at La Serna (5-0) at California\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Warren, under Raul Lara, has been playing good football. The Bears have lost their last two but that came against solid opponents in Culver City and Mayfair and they could surprise somebody in the San Gabriel Valley League. That being said they’ll come up short here. La Serna is always good, this year the Lancers are great. They have big wins over Colony and Mira Costa and they dropped 56 on Montebello. The Lancers will roll through the Del Rio. The real question is can they go 10-0? La Serna will be 6-0 after this one.<\/p>\n

Rowland (2-2) at Nogales (1-3)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Neither team is where it wants to be. Rowland has been up and down although the Raiders did beat Diamond Bar last week 35-21. Nogales, under new head coach Oscar Robles has gotten off to a slow start losing three of its first four. Both teams want a victory heading into league play. Should be an interesting contest, entertaining if nothing else. Rowland wins in a close call.<\/p>\n

St. Francis (2-2) at Harvard-Westlake (3-2)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

These two former Angelus League foes now get to face off in a non-league battle. Both teams have a couple of losses but they also have schedules that could rival USC’s. St. Francis still has a couple more weeks to tune up for league play. Always a dog fight when these two square off, and this will be no exception. Golden Knights have just enough to get it done.<\/p>\n
