[Upland] Clark Phillips III picked off two passes to secure La Habra\u2019s 21-14 victory over Upland Friday night at Upland High School.<\/p>\n
La Habra quarterback Ryan Zanelli started off hot with two of his first three passes going for scores. Kristopher Koontz had the first touchdown on a 40-yarder to paydirt, Brandon Vasquez then took one in from 53-yards out to give the Highlanders an early 14-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Upland’s Evan Rowe got the Scots on the board with his own 53-yarder hitting Donj\u2019rael Brooks to make it 14-7 midway through the first quarter. The score stood that way until\u00a0 the half.<\/p>\n
Midway through the third quarter Zanelli got his third touchdown pass of the night when he hit Vasquez in the corner of the endzone to make it 21-7.<\/p>\n
Upland five star linebacker Justin Flowe went to the offensive side of the ball and pounded the rock in from 9-yards out to make it 21-14. Flowe finished with a dozen tackles and 5-carries for 41-yards and a TD.<\/p>\n
Upland saw the red zone two more times but both times were stopped by Phillips interceptions.<\/p>\n
Phillips III, a Ohio State commit at defensive back, finished with 3 catches for 26 yards and six tackles along with his two picks.<\/p>\n
The Highlanders Zanelli went 13-25 for 178-yards and two touchdowns. Upland’s Rowe finished 10-22 for 109-yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.<\/p>\n
