{"id":70248,"date":"2020-10-28T11:05:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-28T18:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=70248"},"modified":"2020-10-28T11:25:37","modified_gmt":"2020-10-28T18:25:37","slug":"st-francis-coach-bonds-passes-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/?p=70248","title":{"rendered":"St. Francis Coach Bonds Passes Away"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"727\" src=\"http:\/\/midvalleysports.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_2135-e1533613052727.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62235\"\/><figcaption>St. Francis Head Coach Jim Bonds passed away after a battle with cancer. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By Tim Peterson <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(La Canada) &#8211; St. Francis head football coach Jim Bonds passed away early Wednesday morning at the age of 51 after a long battle with cancer. <\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Bonds starred at quarterback for Hart High School and led the team to a CIF championship in 1986 and then went on to play at UCLA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonds was the head coach at Alemany for three years before taking over at St. Francis in 2000 where he coached for the next 20 years including the most recent campaign in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bonds led the Golden Knights to the CIF Division title game in 2017 where they fell to Rancho Verde on a last second field goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St. Francis reached the playoffs 16 times during Bonds reign which included five semi final appearances and the one CIF championship appearance.
