\"apr-4-sg-passing-006-2\"<\/a>(San Gabriel) \u2013 With the new CIF rules in place allowing football teams to practice all year long, three teams hit the field Saturday to throw the ball around at San Gabriel High. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>San Gabriel, Arroyo and Roosevelt all participated in three team passing drill. Teams go seven on seven with two offenses rotating against one defense. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>It was the traditional shirts and shorts and it\u2019s a little too early to tell what you have. But it is a chance to see how well your quarterback is throwing the long ball as well as the slants and outs. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s weird to be out here in April,\u201d said Arroyo Coach Jim Singiser. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s definitely early but it is a chance for these kids to come out here and play together a little bit,\u201d said San Gabriel Coach Keith Jones. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"apr-4-sg-passing-008-2\"<\/a> <\/span>Arroyo and San Gabriel are both relying on big years from their quarterbacks to be successful in 2009. The Matadors have senior Isaac Valdez who will be returning for his third year as the starter. The Knights will place the ball in the hands of Steven Rivera who filled in admirably last year as a freshman after senior Austin McFarland went down with an injury. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
