Both are coming off of wins but their opponents were the bottom teams in league – Keppel and Bell Gardens. Alhambra struggled to put away Keppel while Schurr routed BG. Whittier took care of Santa Fe and needs at least two more wins in the Del Rio to have a shot at playoffs. The Cards won’t get it here. The Knights schedule hasn’t been exactly murderers row but they have done what they had to do. Arroyo has outscored its last two opponents 104-0. South El Monte has been Jekyll and Hyde. The Eagles pounded Gabrielino 49-14 last week but lost to Baldwin Park 57-7 the week before. Both teams have played Glendale. South lost to the Nitros 32-20 while Arroyo blitzed them 49-0. The Eagles will have trouble keeping up with the Knights passing attack. Arroyo goes to 7-0.

Arroyo 45 South El Monte 13

Thursday October 7th

Arcadia (3-2) at Muir (4-1)

Maybe the best game in the Pacific League this week. It’s tough to get a read on either team. Arcadia has shown some offense in wins over Marina, Whittier and La Salle but the Apaches were humbled by Monrovia and fell to Burroughs. Muir has won a couple of low scoring affairs by scores of 12-6 and 6-2. The Mustangs opened with a win over Burbank last week to open league play. The Muir defense should be able to hold down Arcadia. Can the offense do enough? Muir wins a close one.

Muir 21 Arcadia 13

Friday October 8th

Pasadena Poly (3-2) at Monrovia (6-0)

Monrovia is going undefeated in the regular season. BP has out scored its last two opponents 112-7 and haven’t scored less than 34 points in a game all year.
