(La Canada) – The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits \u201cran\u201d wild on Saturday evening, amassing 318 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns, en route to a 38-7 victory over the host St. Francis Golden Knights at Jim Bonds Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Jackrabbits opened the scoring when Devin Samples scored on a 5-yard run. The PAT was added by Dylan Michel, making the score 7-0, Long Beach Poly, with 8:21 remaining in the first quarter. St. Francis would answer, thanks to a bit of trickery, as the Golden Knights successfully executed a \u201cdouble-pass\u201d, beginning with quarterback Jack Jacobs tossing to wide receiver Nicholas Salgado, who threw to receiver Dylan Bell for an 11-yard score. The PAT was successfully converted by Clint Geryak, making the score 7-7 after one quarter of play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long Beach Poly added two more scores in the second quarter\u2026both provided courtesy of Samples. Samples scored on runs of 5 and 1 yard(s). A pair of successful Michel PAT\u2019s made the score 21-7, Jackrabbits, as the half came to a close. Samples enjoyed a stellar evening, rushing for 191 yards on 34 rushing attempts, while scoring three touchdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The third quarter provided more Long Beach Poly offense. Michel converted a 24-yard field goal attempt early in the quarter, stretching the Jackrabbits lead to 24-7. Poly scored again in the third, when Joshua Cason crossed the goal-line on a 1-yard TD blast. A fourth Michel PAT made the score 31-7, Long Beach Poly, at the end of three.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long Beach Poly added their final score of the evening with 29 seconds remaining in the contest. Omar Stokley scored on a 2-yard scamper. A final Michel PAT conversion made the score 38-7, Poly, as the game came to a close.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Long Beach Poly finishes their season with a record of 11-3, 5-0 in Moore League play, and the CIF SS Division 4 Champions. The Jackrabbits will now, potentially, have an opportunity to play in the CIF State Football Championships. St. Francis also finishes with a record of 11-3, 2-1 in Angelus League action, and as the CIF Division 4 Runner-Up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
