He also led the Rio Hondo League in receiving. But that&#8217;s just the beginning. There were much loftier goals that were met. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Hernandez, with 1,594 yards on 71 receptions, was second in the State. That&#8217;s correct. The junior Monrovia receiver had the second most receiving yards in California. He also scored 23 touchdowns in 11 games. By the end of the season coaches were devising defenses just to try to stop him. Hernandez was also a ballhawk on defense with three interceptions and piled up 80 yards on punt returns. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monrovia rolled through the regular season a perfect 10-0 with Hernandez leading the way, before the Wildcats fell to Norte Vista in the first round of the CIF Division 6 playoffs. Hernandez only a junior, will be back next season for one last high school run. In 2022 Hernandez may reach for even higher goals.
