I loved coaching there. It&#8217;s just not something I can do full time,&#8221; Romero said. &#8220;I want to do things in ministry and spend more time with family. I want to visit my father in Arizona whenever I can. But I&#8217;m leaving with a good taste in my mouth. Coaching at El Monte was a great opportunity.  I feel blessed.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Romero took over for Jesse Ceniceros who stepped down after the 2019 season in which he led the Lions to a CIF and a State championship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the entire 2020 season was postponed due to COVID-19, El Monte, along with the entire Mission Valley League, didn&#8217;t play in the Spring season in 2021 and Romero didn&#8217;t step in as head coach until July.
