(Bellflower) Cooler weather fell upon Ron Yary Stadium Friday night but that didn\u2019t cool off the right arm of Evan Tomich who tossed four touchdown passes to lead the Mayfair Monsoons past the visiting El Rancho Dons 35-22 in a non-league matchup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Tomich finished the night connection on 10 of 15 passed for 277-yards and the four scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The teams traded punts on each of their first couple of series and it wasn\u2019t until just under four minutes in the first quarter that either team got on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryan Heredia got the call from two yards out to cap a 7-play, 67-yard drive. Mercedes Sibrian came on to boot the extra point for the 7-0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlie it the second quarter El Rancho moved into Monsoon territory down to the 35. The Monsoon defense came up with a big stop when the Dons went for it on fourth and five. Angel Diaz was stopped for no gain and Mayfair took over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two plays later the Monsoon advantage was 14-0 when Tomich found Gerald Myles III on a 62-yard catch and carry to paydirt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On El Rancho\u2019s next possession they found some traction moving deep into Mayfair territory. The drive stalled at the five yard line and Matteo Alvarado came on to boot a 22-yard field goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monsoons only needed one play on the ensuing drive to get in the endzone again. Tomich found Leroy Palu over the middle and Palu did the rest, going 67-yards for the score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Rancho came back to cut into the lead on their next possession. The Dons marched 65-yards on 14 plays with Ryan Vasquez finding Andrew Bojorquez in the back corner of the endzone as time was winding down in the second. Alvarado added the extra point and El Rancho trailed by 11 and that score would hold up for the remainder of the half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dons cut the lead to five midway through the third quarter when Diaz scored on a 7-yard run that finished off another long 14-play drive.  Diaz rushed for 71-yards and the two touchdowns and had another 73-yards on five catches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayfair went back up by 12 early in the final frame when Tomich found brother Owen on a 32-yard sideline route that saw Owen out run the Don defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Monsoons only needed one play on their next scoring drive when Tomich got his fourth scoring pass on a 43-yard pass to Jaylen Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

El Rancho continued to fight and put together an 11-play, 62-yard drive with 3:07 left in the fourth. Diaz got his second touchdown on the night on a two yard run. The Dons went for two but were denied.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another road game is on the schedule for El Rancho as they take on Norwalk while Mayfair will take the week of in preparation for Gateway League action taking a visit to Warren.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
