The winner of this one clearly has the inside track to win the league. Colony is coming off a close win over Diamond Ranch while Glendora, which has had its struggles this year, got beat up by Ayala. Should come down to the wire. Colony survives.

Colony 20 Glendora 17

Friday October 14

Bell Gardens (4-3) at Montebello (5-2)

Key game in the Almont. Bell Gardens coming off a big win over Schurr, can maintain league control with a win over the Oilers. Montebello, also 2-0 in the Almont, would move into first by upending the Lancers. Bell Gardens still has momentum on its side. it carries into this week.

Bell Gardens 31 Montebello 27

Downey (6-1) at Warren (5-1)

The best rivalry in the area, bar none. if you’ve never been to this game put it on your bucket list. This year it could be one of the best ever with two D1 quarterbacks squaring off. Downey’s Aidan Chiles and Warren’s Nico Iamaleava are both worth the price of admission. Should be a shootout with these two throwing it all over the field. The Vikings will keep coming all night but the Bears will be the last team standing.

Warren 38 Dowey 31

Diamond Bar (6-1) at Walnut (5-2)

The “Branding Iron” will be even bigger this year. Both teams are having nice seasons and the winner here has a leg up in the Hacienda League. Both teams are coming off of big wins. The Brahmas belted Rowland while the Mustangs routed Wilson. Diamond Bar has some weapons on offense. The Brahmas should have enough to hold off Walnut.

Diamond Bar 27 Walnut 17

Chaminade (7-0) at Bishop Amat (5-2)

Bishop Amat needs a win over Chaminade to win the Misson League title. A Chaminade win would catapult the Eagles to a 3-0 record in the Mission and the team to beat. Both teams can score and it will come down to who can make a stop. Chaminade jumps out early but Amat rallies and pulls it out in the fourth quarter.

Bishop Amat 34 Chaminade 30

Charter Oak (7-0) at Ayala (6-1)

Biggest test for Charter Oak so far this year. The Chargers have passed every test so far but Ayala is a different animal. These are two evenly matched teams. Ayala beat Chino Hills by one point and so did Charter Oak. Ayala beat Glendora last week by 23 while the Chargers beat the Tartans last month by 30. Offensively Charter Oak is fine. If they can stop the run, which has been an issue at times, they can get the W. The best way to call this one may be a coin flip. Chargers prevail.

Charter Oak 28 Ayala 27

Sierra Vista (5-2) at Baldwin Park (5-2)

The Battle of Baldwin Park. Great rivalry that has heated up over the past few years. The Dons are coming off a big win over Glendale while the Braves had a bye last week but got run over by West Covina two weeks. ago. Sierra Vista will try to slow the game down and pound Baldwin Park. The Braves have shown at times that they can air it out or pound it in a balanced attack. Sierra Vista will keep it close for awhile but in the end BP has too much. Braves win city bragging rights.

Baldwin Park 27 Sierra Vista 20

Northview (5-2) at Los Altos (2-5)

Northview gets off to a good start in the Valle Vista. The Vikings will break out early and just keep rolling. Should be a running clock in the fourth quarter. Some games you can see maybe the underdog jumping up and biting somebody. Not here. The only one doing the biting will be the Vikes.

Northview 42 Los Altos 13

[12816,3

post-77565","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-hsfootball","category-high-school-sports
["GET
