The Colts have won their first two games and have outscored their opponents 82-14. Diamond Bar is 2-0 also and has put up 71 points of its own. Expect a lot of points as both teams will light up the scoreboard. The Brahmas defense makes a couple more stops. D Bar gets the W.

Diamond Bar 34 Covina 31

La Salle (1-1) at Bonita (2-0)

Last year La Salle surprised Bonita with an eight-point win. This year the Bearcats offense is rolling behind freshman quarterback Daniel Mielke II. Bonita has put up 80 points in two games. La Salle won its opener but struggled in a loss last week to Xavier Prep. Bonita has too many weapons for the Lancers to deal with. The Bearcats win their third straight.

Bonita 35 La Salle 21

South Pasadena (2-0) at Baldwin Park (1-1)

Maybe the game of the week right here. South Pasadena is 2-0 and while last week’s rout of Maywood was nice the Tigers most impressive win was in Zero Week over Schurr. Baldwin Park bounced back last week with a win over El Monte after falling in Zero Week to Montebello. South Pas is in a groove right now. Not sure if the Braves can make enough stops to get it done. Tigers improve to 3-0.

South Pasadena 35 Baldwin Park 24

Friday September 1

Charter Oak (1-1) at Glendora (2-0) (Citrus College)

Charter Oak lost to Chino Hills by four last week while Glendora beat the Huskies by four in Zero Week. The Tartans, trying to turn things around from last season, have handled two tough opponents. The Chargers are even at 1-1 splitting its first two games. Could come down to a field goal in the fourth quarter. Glendora gets it done.

Glendora 24 Charter Oak 21

El Rancho (2-0) at Monrovia (0-1)

El Rancho has been somewhat of a surprise this year. The Dons outlasted Don Lugo in the opener and then crushed Bell Gardens last week. Monrovia only has one game under its belt after flooding in Palm Springs caused a cancellation last week. The Wildcats had 56 dropped on them by Bonita in Zero Week but the Bearcats are legitimate. However so are the Dons. El Rancho got humbled by Monrovia last year and are looking to reverse things. Monrovia can score but can the Cats make enough stops? The Dons come out on top.

El Rancho 38 Monrovia 35

Warren (1-1) at La Serna (1-1) (California)

La Serna lost a close one to Warren last year. This year the Lancers, who always have murderer’s row in non league, lost to Los Alamitos last week after pummeling Pasadena in the opener. Warren is 1-1 also after being shut out by Serra last week. This is a different Warren team. The Bears are always in the mix but they did lose their D-1 quarterback to graduation. He’s now at Tennessee. La Serna jumps out in front early and holds on for the win.

La Serna 28 Warren 24

South El Monte (2-0) at Montebello (1-1)

South El Monte looks like a team to be reckoned with this year in the Mission Valley League. The Eagles blew out Alhambra then handled Bishop Montgomery. While understood that they didn’t beat St. John Bosco and Mater Dei, the Eagles are still 2-0. Montebello rallied to beat Baldwin Park two weeks ago but were blanked last week by Cantwell. If South El Monte can win this one the Eagles could head into league play at 5-0. They hold off the Oilers and remain undefeated.

South El Monte 24 Montebello 17

South Hills (1-1) at Northview (1-1) (Covina District Field)

Northview traveled all the way to Vegas last week but fell short to Sierra Vista. The Vikings were dominant in a Zero Week win over Muir. South Hills won its opener but was pounded last week by Covina. Northview has two solid backs and will also pound the ball…again and again. The Vikes defense is solid as well. South Hills will eventually wear down. Northview wins.

Northview 35 South Hills 13

Cantwell (1-1) at La Canada (2-0)

Is this the year La Canada breaks through in the Rio Hondo? The Spartans are off to a good start towards that goal as they have scored 105 points in their first two victories. Cantwell had a nice bounce back win last week over Montebello after taking one on the chin against Village Christian. Cantwell’s defense is good but is it stout enough to hold off La Canada? For awhile maybe but La Canada will pull away in the second half. Spartans win their third straight.

La Canada 31 Cantwell 17

Quick Hits

Arroyo at Schurr (Thursday) – Schurr

Nogales at Sierra Vista (Thursday) – Sierra Vista

Temple City at Alhambra – Alhambra

Brea Olinda at Arcadia – Brea Olinda

West Covina at Crescenta Valley (Glendale) – West Covina

Los Altos at Walnut – Los Altos

Marina at San Dimas – San Dimas

Rio Hondo Prep at El Monte – Rio Hondo Prep

San Marino at Rosemead – San Marino

Mt.
