View rallied to get close but it wasn\u2019t enough as the Panthers emerged with a 64-42 victory at Mt. View in the Mission Valley League opener. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Mountain View got the ball first but was stuffed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Panthers then drove the ball down field and Dylan Moreno cashed in when he slipped Vikings defenders to a 30-yard score.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosemead got the ball right back when Jacob Wang picked off a Juan Villareal pass.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vikings answered on the next play as Everardo Nunez intercepted a Matias\u00a0Pineda pass.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain View capitalized and scored on a Villareal pass to Herson Gasca making it 7-6 after a missed extra point.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mead scored quick when Pineda took it in himself from six-yards out in under two minutes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The score was 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosemead took over on a Vikings turnover on a bad snap on a punt attempt but the Panthers couldn&#8217;t take advantage and turned the ball over on downs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain View forced another turnover when Bryan Garcia had an interception but the Vikes were not able to capitalize and were forced to punt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vikings got another turnover on the next possession with a fumble recovery and they tied it up at 14-14 with a Ricky Guerrero 22-yard run and two-point conversion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panthers grabbed the lead right back and then some in the next three minutes. Pineda ran a 15-yard keeper into the endzone for a 21-14 lead. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mountain View&#8217;s Guerrero then fumbled and Julian Lugo recovered for Rosemead. That led to a 26-yard Pineda to Wang TD connect making it 27-14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vikings then muffed the following kickoff return and score when Pineda found Wang again and it was 34-14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Villareal then scored for the Vikings as he broke off a 59-yard run to paydirt. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But 30 seconds later Pineda connected with David Estrada to make it 42-21 Panthers at the half.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosemead added onto its lead just 30 seconds into the second half when Pineda found Lugo this time for a 46-yard catch and run. Estrada put in the two-point conversion making it 50-21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guerrero found the endzone again for the Vikings making it 50-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Panthers turned the ball over on downs but Mountain View gave the ball back when Wang corralled his second interception of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosemead took advantage of the short field on the turnover and Estrada hit the endzone this time on the ground.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Vikings scored twice with a run by Nunez and a pass from Villareal to Guerrero and they also forced a punt making it 56-42 midway through the fourth quarter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After each team turned it over on downs the Panthers scored on an Estrada run and still went for two late in the game up by 20 and converted making it 64-42.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>View ended any chance of another score when Villareal was picked off by Lugo to seal the game for Rosemead.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pineda, Estrada and Wang were lethal all night for the Panthers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Villareal, Guerrero, Nunez and Samuel Machuca were bright spots for the Vikings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rosemead now goes home to face undefeated South El Monte next week while Mountain View will stay home and face Gabrielino which hasn\u2019t won a game this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By George Hernandez (El Monte) &#8211; Rosemead took a four-score lead, Mt.
