Some have even suggested that they should be a Division 3 team. Well maybe in the future but right now they are in Division 4. And Friday night they will be Division 4 champions. La Serna wins.

La Serna 31 Corona Del Mar 27

DIV 8

Charter Oak (5-8) at Jurupa Hills (7-6)

Like it or not, and believe me some do not, Charter Oak is playing for a CIF title. Yes the Chargers were 2-8, but they are 3-0 in the playoffs and that’s all that matters. They beat two very good teams in Covina and Highland handily and there’s no reason to believe they will fall to Jurupa Hils now. Charter Oak wins the hardware.

Charter Oak 24 Jurupa Hills 21

DIV 9

Rio Hondo Prep (12-1) at Santa Monica (9-4)

Rio Hondo Prep is on a mission. “They can’t beat St. Margaret’s.” Well they did. “They won’t beat Orange on the road.” Yes they can. “No way they travel out to Moreno Valley and win there.” Um, yeah they can. The Kares just keep winning. And they will drive out to Santa Monica and win again. It’s what they do. By the way why do they have to play three straight games in the road? Oh well it will just make the drive home that much more enjoyable. Kares bring home the goods.

Rio Hondo Prep 28 Santa Monica 24

Saturday November 25

DIV 3

Warren (11-2) at St. Bonaventure (10-3)

Warren has only lost two games all year on a schedule that can best be described as murderer’s row. All three of the Bears wins in the playoffs have been by one point. They know how to win the close games. St. Bonaventure is no stranger to tough schedules either. The Seraphs hail from the Marmonte League which features teams such as Oaks Christian and Bishop Diego. It will be another close game- maybe even another one-point affair. Warren holds on to win the Division 3 title.

Warren 33 St. Bonaventure 31

DIV 7

Mayfair (10-3) at El Dorado (8-5)

Mayfair’s win over Muir last week on the road was huge. The Monsoons were able to run the ball and control the clock and the defense shut down the Mustangs potentially explosive offense. Expect Mayfair run game to be on full display again Saturday night. El Dorado plays in the always solid North Hills League and bangs with teams like El Modena and Esperanza. The Monsoons are used to tough comp though trading paint with Downey, Warren and La Mirada in the Gateway. Mayfair survives the battle.

Mayfair 27 El Dorado 24

DIV 10

Torrance (9-4) at West Covina (11-2)

Everybody knows what West Covina will do but they still can’t stop it. The Bulldogs will pound the ball and then pound it some more. Last week they grinded out a 19-3 win over Xavier Prep. Both teams can play defense. Torrance is coming off of a hard earned 10-7 win over Hemet. West Covina head coach Mike Maggiore wins his fourth CIF title.
