The Brahmas have played a tough schedule and they should start winning games soon. Last week they came up a buck short against South Hills. Covina needed a score with 16 seconds left to beat Los Altos. Expect another close one here. Diamond Bar will be in it until the end and again come up just short. Jake Duronslet and the Colts get it done.

Covina 30 Diamond Bar 27

Friday October 11

Damien (4-2) at Upland (2-4)

Damien continues its trek though the Baseline. Every week will be a battle. Upland fell to Rancho Cucamonga last week while Damien took care of Etiwanda. The Spartans pull it off again. The close games that Damien lost last year it is winning this season. Friday Night the Spartans find a way.

Damien 24 Upland 21

Los Altos (3-3) at Chino (1-5)

Chino picked up its first win of the year last week and it was a big one. The Cowboys started the Hacienda with a rout of Walnut. They needed that. Los Altos’ loss to Covina was tough to swallow as it got away in the end. Flip a coin to decide the winner. It would be easier than trying to call this one. A field goal wins it in the fourth quarter.

Los Altos 20 Chino 17

El Monte (3-3) at South El Monte (3-3)

This one could be for the Mission Valley League title. El Monte is actually 5-1 on the field but had to forfeit two wins due to an ineligible player. The Lions beat Gabrielino last week while South El Monte torched Mt. View. Another game that could be predicted by drawing straws. El Monte grabs the short one. South holds on to win the Griffin Bowl.

South El Monte 27 El Monte 24

Muir (4-2) at Burroughs (5-1)

This is the toughest test Muir will face in the Pacific League. Burroughs is the defending league champs. But that was then. This is now. Muir lost a couple tough games early but has been rolling ever since. If you want to compare common opponents Burroughs beat Arcadia 21-13 while the Mustangs routed the Apaches 49-3. Muir has outscored it last two opponents 102-3. The Stangs won’t mess around here. They win…big.

Muir 45 Burroughs 13

Temple City (5-1) at Monrovia (5-1)

Temple City’s unbeaten season ended last week in a 35-0 loss to La Canada to open the Rio Hondo League while Monrovia hammered San Marino 63-27. The Wildcats could lose a league game. We saw what San Dimas did to them a couple weeks ago. But it won’t be to the Rams. Monrovia rolls.

Monrovia 45 Temple City 10

Glendora (3-3) at Colony (2-4)

Glendora lost last week to Bonita in the Sierra League while Colony started with a win by beating Los Osos. Big game for both teams. Glendora doesn’t want to lose its second straight league game while the Titans could gain a ton of momentum by starting the Sierra 2-0. Colony hasn’t played its best ball yet. Glendora comes out fighting and may even take a lead into halftime. But when the dust settles Colony emerges with the victory.

Colony 24 Glendora 20

San Dimas (5-1) at Northview (6-0) (Covina District Field)

Looks like the Game of the Week. Northview is working on a perfect season while San Dimas has only stumbled once – to unbeaten Bonita. Both teams love to run the ball. Northview’s Keanu Tavao and Julian Vigil of San Dimas are both having big years. The Saints can also spell Vigil with Caleb Morquecho who provides a dynamic one-two punch. Northview though can stretch the field now with receiver Isaiah Lucero who transferred in from Damien. Both teams will land big shots in a high scoring affair. The Vikings will land a couple more a little too often. Northview stays undefeated.

Northview 41 San Dimas 28

Quick Hits

Friday October 11

Bell Gardens at San Gabriel -Bell Gardens

Paraclete at Cathedral – Cathedral

St. Paul at St. Pius X/St. Matthias – St. Paul

Loyola at Bishop Amat -Loyola

Mayfair at Warren – Mayfair

South Hills at Walnut – South Hills (Moved to Thursday October 10)

Mt.
